Design Perspectives: Team ‘steps up' proposal for Civic Square design

The first tests of the relationship between the city of Seattle and Triad Development are over. The marriage — and the Civic Square project — is still on, but it may be a long wait.
The anticipated result of this public-private liaison is a new complex right in front of City Hall on the block between Cherry and James streets and Third and Fourth avenues. Now part of a project referred to as 601 Fourth Avenue, it includes a 42-story office and residential tower accompanied by a dynamic and sculptural public plaza. There will be retail buildings on the south and west sides, parking and a transit station.
