The new Space Needle rises over the fairgrounds. Structural engineers worked almost around the clock on the design even as construction was under way.

If design is about dreams, structural engineering is about figuring out how to make those dreams a reality. At the 1962 Seattle World's Fair, this happened in record time — and the dreams live on.
