After Hours: World's largest walk-thru purse

Industrial artist Ries Niemi said the 14-foot-tall handbag was partly inspired by the Northwest’s gigantic drive-through tree stumps.

BELLINGHAM — Edison-based industrial artist Ries Niemi has installed a sculpture called “World's Largest Walk Thru Handbag” in the Lightcatcher building courtyard at the Whatcom Museum, 250 Flora St. The sculpture, along with some of Niemi's other art, will be on view through Sept. 11.
