Bellevue Arts Museum

Bellevue Arts Museum named Linda Pawson executive director. Pawson has been interim executive director since last fall. She worked as a consultant for Accenture and then for 10 years at Microsoft in the sales, marketing and services group. Pawson also was on the board at Pratt Fine Arts Center in Seattle.

X2 Biosystems

X2 Biosystems, a Seattle-based tech company focused on detection and management of traumatic brain injury, named retired Major General Stephen Layfield president of the government and industrial division. Layfield has more than 30 years of leadership, training and command experience, serving in Bosnia, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Afghanistan and Operation Enduring Freedom. The company's technology is being tested for use by the military.

David Easton has joined Madison Bay Commercial from Seattle Steam Co. where he was vice president, overseeing business development and client relations. He also worked at Unico Properties on the Metropolitan Tract and Union Square teams. He has degrees in marketing and fine art from Central Washington University, and a Commercial Real Estate Certificate from the University of Washington.

Magee

Cushman & Wakefield | Commerce promoted Dave Magee to market leader for the Washington region, which includes the Seattle and Bellevue offices. Magee will direct business development, recruiting and key client relationships, and support all business lines. Cushman & Wakefield | Commerce offers brokerage, leasing, capital markets, property management, project management and related services. Magee has 30 years of experience in commercial real estate in the Puget Sound area. He is a CCIM candidate and on the board of Commercial Brokers Association.

Port of Everett

The Port of Everett signed a new lease and renewed three leases in Waterfront Center, bringing it to 70 percent occupancy. The new five-year lease is with Eagle Home Mortgage for 1,168 square feet in the first floor lobby. Bluewater Distilling, maker of vodka and gin, signed a five-year lease to double its space, and add a restaurant and cocktail lounge, and increase production. Owner John Lundin said the production area will be prominently displayed. Ocean Research College Academy, an early college high school program that is part of Everett Community College, signed a five-year lease to expand by 1,600 square feet to accommodate more students, two more classrooms and meeting space. The space is expected to be ready this fall. Ardi Kveven, executive director of ORCA, said the school also has a new 34-foot research vessel. ISIS Holdings signed a one-year lease for 929 square feet on the first floor lobby. Waterfront Center opened in 2011. The port will begin construction this month on the first phase of Waterfront Place Central, a new mixed-use neighborhood. Information is at http://www.waterfront-place.com.

Joe Fugere is this year's recipient of the Gill A. Centioli Memorial Award by Festa Italiana, which produces the Italian Festival at Seattle Center. The award honors a local Italian-American for success and positively reflecting the Italian community. Previous winners include Albert D. Rosellini, Victor Rosellini, Art Oberto and Lou Guzzo. Fugere opened his first Neapolitan pizzeria in 2004 and now owns five more restaurants.

City of Fife

Interim Police Chief Mark Mears has been appointed the city's new police chief. He led a collaborative effort to develop a strategic plan for the department and has been assistant police chief since 2006.

Hart Crowser added four people in Portland to the natural resource team. Cleve Steward is a fisheries scientist and principal with 35 years of experience. He has been a researcher, policy adviser and project manager for government agencies, tribes and NGOs. Joe Krieter is an aquatic ecologist with 20 years of experience. A former Hart Crowser employee, he has consulted for the timber industry, ports, developers, nonprofits and governments. Andy Clodfelter is a fisheries biologist with 13 years of experience. Jim Brown is a fisheries biologist with 25 years of experience. He has vessel operations experience on the Columbia River and experience in GIS. Hart Crowser is a Seattle-based environmental and engineering consulting firm, with offices also in Edmonds, Vancouver, Anchorage and Honolulu.

Schacht Aslani Architects hired intern architects Kristina Rakestraw and Melanie Stepanicich. Rakestraw holds a bachelor's of architecture from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. She will work on the Early Childhood Center at Skagit Valley College and the Department of Comparative Medicine at the University of Washington. Stepanicich graduated from the University of Washington and worked in San Francisco for a year. She will work on the Allied Health and Early Childhood Development Center at Peninsula College.

Kell McAboy joined SCJ Alliance as a senior planner. She was senior planner with the Port of Tacoma, Mason County lead planner for land use and shoreline permit applications, and has planning experience with Spokane and Airway Heights. SCJ is a consulting firm specializing in transportation planning and design, civil engineering, and land use/environmental planning. It has offices in Lacey, Seattle, Vancouver, Wenatchee, Boise and Westminster, Colorado.

Sparling hired Marcus Preuss as a wireless consultant in the Lynnwood office and Mike Lopez as a technology project manager in San Diego for the technology design and consulting service line. Preuss specializes in distributed wireless and wired communications. He has experience with radio programming software and hardware, and is working on the Pierce County 700MHz Public Safety Radio System. Lopez has 33 years in information technology, 24 for Franciscan Health/Catholic Health Initiatives. Lopez is working on the Sacramento Behavioral Health project. Sparling provides electrical engineering, technology and audiovisual consulting, acoustical and lighting design, with offices in Washington, Oregon and California.

Tacoma-based Helix Design Group hired Susan Payne as a staff architect to assist with production work. Payne previously worked at Helix. She is a drafting instructor at Highline Community College. Helix provides architecture, interior design and graphic design.

The law firm Stoel Rives said partner Jeffrey W. Leppo has been appointed office managing partner in Seattle, the firm's second-largest office. Leppo is an environmental and natural resources practitioner, with a focus on environmental, wildlife and natural resources law. He succeeds Melanie Curtice, who is returning to full-time practice in the employee benefits practice.

AssureStart

AssureStart, a Seattle-based online small business insurance provider, named Chad Zenner chief marketing officer. AssureStart sells business property and general liability insurance to small businesses on the Internet. Zenner was with Principal Financial Group in Des Moines, Iowa, as director of digital marketing.
