Stoel Rives has hired Lindsey Briggs in the Private Client group as of counsel where she will concentrate on business succession planning, estate planning, asset protection and charitable giving. She practiced law in New York City.

Downtown Seattle Association

Downtown Seattle Association added nine new members to the board of directors for three-year terms. Richard Stevenson starts a two-year term as board chair and Zahoor Ahmed is vice chair. New board member are Pamela L. Banks of the Urban League, Ed Goines of Seattle Seahawks, Pamela Hinckley of Tom Douglas Restaurants, Taylor Hoang of Cyclo Corp., Mari Horita of ArtsFund, Mark Nagle of Expedia, Ryan Smith of Martin Smith Inc., Coleen Spratt of CommonWealth Partners, and David Watkins of Inn at the Market.

NC Machinery, Tractor & Equipment Co.

NC Machinery and Tractor & Equipment Co. promoted David “Doc” James to vice president of services. James started at NC Machinery's Alaska division in 2011 as general service manager and later became general product support manager for Alaska. He is working at the Tukwila branch and is responsible for NC Machinery territories in Alaska and Washington, as well as Tractor & Equipment Co. in Montana, North Dakota and Wyoming. He replaces Don Linn, who recently retired.

NC Power Systems, T&E Power Systems

Mark Keeler is the new general manager of sales at NC Power Systems and T&E Power Systems in Tukwila. Keeler is responsible for the power generation and engine sales, rental, and engineering departments. He previously worked for another Caterpillar dealer for 13 years and has 20 years of experience in the engine and power generation industry.

EC Co.

EC Co.'s Advanced Technology Division won the 2016 National Electrical Contractor Association Zero Injury Award. The award recognizes companies that have worked a calendar year without recordable incidents. EC also won NECA's 2016 Safety Excellence Award for company-wide performance. EC is a privately held electrical contractor with offices in Seattle and Albany, Oregon.

Bank of the Cascades

Bank of the Cascades is expanding its Small Business Administration lending into Seattle. The bank has “preferred lender” status and hired Gwen Schaeffer (formerly Lundgren) as vice president and government loan specialist to lead the program here. Schaeffer has nearly 25 years of experience at the SBA, Umpqua Bank, CIT Group and Merrill Lynch. Since 2013, the bank has provided more than $100 million in SBA financing to small businesses in Oregon and Idaho. The bank will acquire Prime Pacific Bank to help serve Snohomish and King counties.

Cairncross & Hempelmann

Cairncross & Hempelmann hired Christopher L. Young in the Bankruptcy and Creditors' Rights practice group. He specializes in commercial bankruptcy and creditors' rights, and supports complex bankruptcy negotiations and settlements. Young held several judicial externship positions.

24 Hour Fitness in Portland’s Pearl District

CBRE Capital Markets' Debt & Structured Finance team secured $21.2 million in non-recourse financing for two retail/gym properties in Oregon: 24 Hour Fitness in Portland's Pearl District and 24 Hour Fitness in suburban Tualatin. Financing was arranged for an entity owned and controlled by Metro Commercial Realty. The loan term is 15 years and the interest rate is 3.64 percent.

Union Street Corporate Real Estate

White

Union Street Corporate Real Estate hired Nate White as a broker in Seattle. He has nine years of commercial real estate experience. Union Street was founded in 2015 by Derek Hermsen to represent office tenants.

Seattle Housing Authority

Seattle City Council confirmed the appointment of Dr. Paula Houston and David Moseley to at-large positions on Seattle Housing Authority's seven-member board of commissioners. Houston is CEO of Sound Generations in Seattle and was executive director for Meredith Mathews East Madison YMCA. Moseley was assistant secretary to the Washington State Department of Transportation Ferries Division.

Beach hotel sold in Newport, Oregon

Denver-based HREC Investment Advisors said it arranged the sale of the 148-room Best Western Agate Beach Resort in Newport, Oregon, to an affiliate of Vesta Hospitality, which owns and operates U.S. resorts and hotels. Mike Armstrong and Mike Cahill represented the private seller. Armstrong said Vesta plans a multi-million-dollar upgrade for the hotel, which is on Highway 101 west of Portland and Eugene.

Seattle Art Museum

Domenic Morea joined Seattle Art Museum as director of communications, in charge of marketing, advertising, graphic design, public relations, media relations and editorial services. SAM's Cindy McKinley has been promoted to associate director of communications. Morea was with the Oprah Winfrey Network in Los Angeles as director of communications and publicity, and before that worked for Style Network and E! Entertainment Television. Morea has also worked with museums on communications and public affairs. McKinley has been with SAM for six years.

Friends of Youth

Friends of Youth added three new board members: Kristin Reed of Cornerstone Advisors, Dr. Ray Baker of EvergreenHealth Medical Group and Phil Crocker of The Crocker Group, who is rejoining the board after a two-year hiatus.
