Management by Design: Cooling down hot tempers at work

Hugo Lassalle, a Jesuit priest, says emotional perceptions dominate our thinking, perhaps up to 80 percent of the time. We react spontaneously to these perceptions, and depend on our logical minds only about 20 percent of the time, Lassalle suggests.

No doubt we are emotional creatures, tied to our passions. Logical thinking is used for problem solving; everyday processes such as driving and crossing the street; and tasks such as gardening and cooking.
