Reinhold Mann will join Richland's Pacific Northwest National Laboratories as deputy laboratory director for science and technology in October. Mann currently is director of life sciences at the Department of Energy's Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Tennessee. He has more than 20 years of experience as a researcher and leader in life, physical, computational and engineering sciences.

Marketing/graphic design firm Belyea has appointed Ron Lars Hansen senior designer. He will join founder Patricia Belyea and systems manager Michael Stone in an equal three-way partnership. Hansen will direct the creative services and lead the design team. Belyea is located in downtown Seattle.

Three local business people joined the board of the Seattle-based, non-profit Housing Resources Group: Shane Rock, a systems engineer at RealImpact, a service of RealNetworks; Marilyn Sherron, director of the employment section in the Seattle City Attorney’s Office; and Richard Stevenson, chief operating officer of the Seattle development company Clise Properties. HRG was formed in 1980 under the leadership of the Downtown Seattle Association to provide affordable housing. HRG manages 1,437 apartments in 25 projects and is developing and building 170 more apartment units, along with assisting other non-profit organizations on 343 additional apartments. Rock brings community development, shelter program management, grant writing, network systems and streaming media skills to the board. Sherron contributes expertise in employment law, management and mediation. Stevenson provides skills in development and property management.
The big winners in this year's Seattle Street of Dreams awards were Libby Fredricks, Brookhaven Homes and Heller Luxury Homes. Awards included best design, craftsmanship, landscaping and interiors and were selected by Realtors, a professional committee and the public.

Chris Forrest rejoins Casne Engineering’s industrial department at corporate headquarters in Bellevue. Forrest serves as project engineer responsible for all phases of electrical design including development of plans, specifications, and construction cost estimates. He will apply his experience in construction assistance, system start-up, low and medium voltage power distribution, instrumentation and controls design and field support. Forrest also has comprehensive training in the design and installation of fiber optic networks, as well as traditional copper networks.
MulvannyG2 Architecture recently hired Carole Kassir-Garcia as associate/lead designer and Adelina Diaz as project manager for its expanding Interiors Studio. As the Interiors Studio lead designer, Kassir-Garcia will be responsible for the studio's creative direction. Kassir-Garcia's portfolio includes various Microsoft office projects, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, the city of Seattle's DCLU offices, Sony Studios in Los Angeles and the LA County/USC Medical Center. She has an Interior/Environmental Design degree from the New England School of Arts and Design.
Diaz is currently responsible for the interior projects at Costco's corporate headquarters in Issaquah and ATL's corporate headquarters in Bothell. Diaz will direct day-to-day activities, track milestones and monitor budgets for various Interiors Studio projects. She has more than six years experience in retail, office, technology and hospitality, and has led projects from programming through construction administration.
Gordon D. Hjelm has recently been promoted to the position of vice president of Pacific Engineering Technologies. He has worked on various projects including curtain wall systems on high-rise office buildings, seismic upgrading of older commercial buildings and repair of structures damaged by earthquake, wind and fire. Joseph L. Ashlock has returned as a project manager. His experience includes projects related to the Loma Prieta Earthquake, the East Bay Firestorm, Hurricane Iniki and the Northridge Earthquake. He is currently performing state of repair studies on residential and commercial properties and will focus on evaluations of existing buildings.
Robert S. Lauderbach has joined as a senior associate. He is experienced in the investigation of building structures and their related exteriors for water intrusion and damage. Presently, his work focuses on the assessment and repair of building damage from the Nisqually Earthquake. In addition, Kyle Bozick, a recent University of Washington graduate, has joined the firm as a design engineer, and Nancy German, also a University of Washington graduate, has joined the company as administrative assistant. Michael P. Smith and Erika D. Pfeiffer have advanced to the positions of project engineers. Smith has worked on a variety of projects including: Seattle Pacific University Science Building and Dining Hall, the Hayes Power Plant, the Athena Apartments in Queen Anne and numerous engineering investigations. Pfeiffer has worked on a variety of projects including: Emerson Hall Dormitory at Seattle Pacific University, 500 Elliot Condominiums and Sutter Power Plant.
WGBS Architecture & Planning in Eugene recently promoted Tobias Barwood to associate. He has been responsible for the design and management phases of several remodel projects for the Junction City and Corvallis School Districts as well as complex and time-critical remodeling and expansion projects for the Lane County Fairgrounds.
Geotech Consultants, Inc. has announced four appointments. Marc McGinnis has been promoted to president from vice president, and D. Robert Ward, has moved up from senior engineer to vice president. Both have become principals and partners in the firm. James Strange Jr. has been promoted from staff engineer to senior engineer, and Kris Hauck has joined the firm as a staff engineer. McGinnis joined Geotech in 1989, and has 13 years geotechnical engineering experience in the Pacific Northwest. Ward has been working as a geotechnical engineer in the Northwest since 1986. Strange has been a Geotech staff engineer and project manager since 1993. Hauck completed his degree in civil engineering at Montana State University in May 2000.
Ridolfi Engineers announces the following staff additions: Andy Nicholls has joined Ridolfi as a hydrogeologist with 2 years experience. He is involved in a water resources project in Port Angeles and a formerly used defense site project in southeast Alaska. Hazel Galang has joined Ridolfi after working for the firm as an intern. Hazel is Ridolfi's technical information manager and ArcView/AutoCAD specialist. Jeff Simbahon serves as field coordinator for Ridolfi's office in southeast Alaska. He has 12 years of experience both managing and working as a field technician in site cleanup, remediation/recovery work, and in developing and improving HAZMAT and containment facilities. Dan Morris has joined Ridolfi's Coeur d'Alene office as field coordinator. His main project is the "Rails-To-Trails" conversion of Union Pacific Railroad's tracks in northern Idaho to a recreational trail. Kathryn Foster has earned her P.E. in civil engineering. She has extensive experience in CAD and ArcView GIS, and is Ridolfi's computer specialist.
Phyllis Brunner recently joined Brown and Caldwell as the Northwest business unit manager. In this capacity, she will oversee BC’s Pacific Northwest region, which includes Washington, Oregon, Alaska and Canada. Her recent project experience includes master planning a large marine transportation facility for the Port of Portland and the State of Maine Department of Transportation. Her clients here in the northwest have included King County, the Port of Seattle, Pierce County and private sector clients in the region.
SvR Design Co., a Seattle based civil engineering and landscape architecture firm, has hired Kathy Robertsonas associate and senior engineer. She is currently managing several drainage projects for City of Seattle Public Utilities and multiple solid waste projects for the Douglas County Natural Resources Division.
Paul Dedyo has been promoted to associate. He is currently working on the Seattle Justice Center and City Hall projects and several drainage projects for the city of Seattle. Douglas Carter was hired as a design engineer. He is currently working on Olympic College Lincoln Avenue, Seattle Housing Authority’s Holly Park Housing, F Street in Port Townsend and the Pierce County Environmental Services Building. Robin McKennon was hired as a design engineer. She brings five years of experience in civil and forestry engineering. Some of Robin’s projects are Rainier Vista Redevelopment for Seattle Housing Authority and J.G. Commons Senior Housing on Vashon Island.
Kirk Prindle has eight years experience working as a biologist and wetlands specialist. He recently joined SvR to work on a variety of projects including Blakely Harbor Park on Bainbridge Island and Decatur Park in Olympia. He will also be working on C.Y.O Camp Hamilton, Camps Brinkley and Omache for the Boy Scouts and King County Parks Three Forks Natural Area
