Kirkland civil and water resource engineering firm Peterson Consulting Engineers elected Jon Nelson principal. Nelson has 21 years' experience in project management, construction administration and design.

Earl Morriss was hired as a senior surveyor. Morriss has 20 years' experience in boundary and topographic surveys. Jerrit Jolma is a project engineer and has a background in civil engineering. Susan Bachison is a design engineer and has worked with Washington State Department of Transportation.

Other new staff members are Allen Grissom and Denise Holcomb as office surveyors, and Maury Ahearn as survey crew chief.

Jerry Dillard, Justin Peterson and Robert Rooney are field surveyors. Flavio Bainotti and Sam Saroeun are CAD technicians. Shawnte Anderson is an administrative assistant.

Hammond Collier

Seattle-based Hammond Collier Wade Livingstone opened a new office in Lakewood at 7502 Lakewood Drive W. to serve the south Puget Sound area. Ken Gunther, a principal of the firm and director of construction services, will be office manager. Hammond Collier is a civil engineering firm that works on wastewater, stormwater, transportation and surveying projects.

Letticia Neal is a project manager. Neal was a municipal engineer with the city of Lakewood. She is working on construction administration for a 4 million-gallon water reservoir in Maple Valley, and is also managing schedule and permitting for a sewer project in Mason County.

McGranahan Architects

McGranahan Architects, a regional architectural firm based in Tacoma, recently hired Matthew Bissen as project designer. Bissen is part of the design team for a 42,000-square-foot building for Bates Technical College's South Campus in Tacoma.

Bill Kück has been promoted to senior project engineer for The Riley Group. Kück has 20 years of geotechnical engineering experience including private, tribal development and capital improvement projects. The Riley Group is a 14-person environmental and engineering consulting firm based in Seattle.

Exeltech

Larry Harris and Leah Jones of Exeltech Consulting have received the U.S. Green Building Council's LEED 2.0 accreditation. Exeltech is a structural, transportation and environmental engineering firm with offices in Olympia and Seattle.

Harris, a senior project manager at the Seattle office, has 11 years' experience in structural engineering. Jones is an environmental planning assistant in Olympia.

Weber + Thompson, a Seattle-based architecture, interior design and planning firm, announced three of its employees have passed the U.S. Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design test: Mark McCarter, Tanya Kirova and Jason Hanner.

Weber + Thompson has designed Built Green projects including Crofton Springs, which is part of the Issaquah Highlands development. The firm is working on Blakely Hall, a community center in Issaquah Highlands that is pursuing a LEED Silver rating.

Howard Hillinger recently joined Parametrix as director of federal programs and program manager of environmental engineering and sciences. He will work on strategic planning and business development. Hillinger has 20 years of experience in facilities development and management, including work with the U.S. Postal Service, Air Force Center for Environmental Excellence and Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.

David Evans and Associates

Everett-based David Evans and Associates hired Thomas M. Weller as senior transportation engineer for the Puget Sound region.

Weller specializes in preparing specifications, estimates and traffic analysis for road projects. He has worked on projects such as widening, realignment, erosion control and storm drainage conveyance systems. He also has experience working with the Washington State Department of Transportation, King County, and the cities of Auburn, Lynden and Bellingham.

Sparling is an electrical engineering and technology consulting firm with offices in Seattle and Portland.
