The Seattle office of Northwest Architectural Co. promoted
Natalie Dohrn, Bennett Hill, Steve Shiver and
Boris Srdar to associate principals. They were senior associates. Dohrn is working on projects for Puyallup school district. Hill is project manager for the Snohomish school district's new high school, and Srdar is also designing projects for this district. Shiver is project manager for renovations at Western State Hospital in Tacoma. Northwest Architectural Co. provides architectural, planning and capital facilities consulting.

Jeffrey Williams to vice president. He has managed highrise projects including Ballard Place Condominiums and Townhomes.
Andrea Vaught recently joined as an intern architect and is working on Marriott Hotel renovations.
Ian Towler is also an intern architect and is working on hospitality renovation projects around the country. Johnson Braund provides architectural, landscape architectural and interior design services.

Sparling, a Seattle electrical engineering consulting firm, promoted
Kristy Alley to director of marketing. Alley helped build Sparling's brand identity and now directs market research. She will work on the firm's collateral materials and mail campaigns.
Varljen

SCS Engineers appointed
Mark D. Varljen vice president. He is a senior hydrogeologist and an expert in groundwater services. His specialties are field methodologies, uncertainty analysis techniques and long-term monitoring. Varljen will continue to be based out of the Bellevue office. He founded Applied Hydrogeologic Research, which SCS acquired five years ago. SCS has 35 offices.
The Transpo Group of Kirkland named Rick Della business manager. Della will direct marketing and business development. Bill Goodwin is consulting services manager and will oversee client services and product enhancement. Both have 30 years of experience and will work on strategic growth, including ways to expand Transpo's services. Patrick Lynch was with the city of Woodinville and is now a senior transportation planner with The Transpo Group. The company does transportation planning, traffic analysis and roadway design.

Dave Thielen returns to GeoEngineers as a principal geotechnical engineer. Thielen has 25 years of experience and is an expert on reinforced walls and slopes. Part of his new job will be to develop the firm as well as work in the transportation market. GeoEngineers is headquartered in Redmond and does earth science, technology and environmental consulting.
Daniel Thompson will lead Dykeman's new graphic design studio. The team will do advertising, branding and Web site design, as well as signage design for tenant improvement projects. The company also added two intern architects.
Jeremy Kaukl and
Andrew Korpi are both graduates of the University of Minnesota and have bachelor's degrees in architecture. They both will work on Larry's Markets projects, with Kaukl also focusing on Bartell Drugs and Korpi working on Urban Outfitters.

Reinhart Jung to executive vice president. Jung has worked at Reid Middleton for more than 35 years. The airport engineering specialist helped grow Reid Middleton's aviation practice, designing or overseeing more than 300 airport projects. Reid Middleton provides civil and structural engineering, planning and surveying services.

Heidi Sadler has joined the Seattle office as marketing director and project manager. Sadler has 15 years of corporate interior design and project management experience. She will work on business development and lead project teams, as well as direct local and regional marketing and public relations.

Amy Gamble have joined as laboratory and field technicians. Zipper Zeman has offices in Lynnwood, Seattle and Tacoma.
Bellevue-based structural engineering firm Cary Kopczynski & Co. added Dan Fredrickson and Tom Lee as senior engineers and Bill Liang as a CAD drafter. Fredrickson is working on a 19-story multi-family project in Seattle, Lee is concentrating on a 51-story condo tower in Las Vegas, and Liang is working on Asher Place Condominiums, a six-story building in Portland.
