Housing Development Consortium

Members of Housing Development Consortium opened or preserved 1,000 units of affordable housing in King County during 2004. Construction generated 1,260 jobs, $71.8 million in wages and $8.65 million in taxes, according to the group. It is a trade association of nonprofit housing developers, lenders, architects, contractors and others. This year, consortium members are scheduled to open 1,395 affordable apartments and homes, and 12 projects will begin construction, adding a total of 2,005 units to the county's affordable housing stock by 2006.

Berger/Abam's Seattle office added engineer-in-training Rob Schurman as a civil engineer. His experience includes work on the city of Redmond's Bear Creek stream restoration and the city of Sammamish's Inglewood basin plan. Engineer Kelly Pitera was promoted. She does structural analysis and design for reinforced concrete and steel buildings, and transportation projects.

Cole is a landscape architect with 13 years of project management experience. He worked on projects at PCC Cascade Campus, Oregon State University and Airport Way. Villarreal has 15 years' design experience with a focus on landscape architecture. Villarreal worked on Portland's South Waterfront Greenway Development and South Waterfront Park

Tacoma's AHBL added Julia Walton as associate principal and promoted Dan Booth to principal. Michael Kattermann, Matt Weber and John Becker IV were made associate principals. Walton has 20 years of planning and urban design experience and is working on the city of Puyallup's downtown redevelopment. Booth is working on Pierce County's Chambers Bay Golf Course Clubhouse. Kattermann is a community planner with 20 years of experience and working on land use planning for two elementary schools in Renton. Becker is working on a topographic survey of 50 sites for the Fort Lewis Stryker Brigade Modularity Project. Weber manages residential and subdivision projects and has over 12 years of experience as a civil engineer. AHBL provides civil and structural engineering, and landscape architecture services.

Andrew Phillips was promoted to associate at Stickney Murphy Romine Architects. He was a project architect and has been with the firm for nine years.

Roggenkamp Erickson and Associates

Vancouver's Roggenkamp Erickson and Associates added to its structural engineering design staff. Shawn Stevenson is an engineer skilled in timber and masonry engineering on older buildings. He is working on a seismic upgrade of a church in Astoria, Ore. Scott Howard does structural engineering design of renovation and seismic upgrades, and is working on church projects in Milwaukie, Ore., and Washougal. Sherry Erickson will work as the company's business manager, handling accounting, bookkeeping and financial reporting. Christine Dick provides administrative support.

Coffman Engineers

Coffman Engineers announced Lisa Rosenow has passed an exam to become a certified sustainable building advisor. She was part of the National Sustainable Building Advisor Program, which developed the certification exam. Coffman Engineers offers structural, mechanical, electrical engineering and construction management services from offices in Seattle, Spokane, Anchorage and Los Angeles

Elliott Bay Design Group

Elliott Bay Design Group added project manager David Smith to lead design of a new ship docking module. Smith has 25 years of shipyard design and construction experience. John Farmer joins as a designer and is working on a tank barge for Bollinger Shipyards. Alisha Lamb was promoted to designer and is working on improvement projects for SeaRiver Maritime
