Borth is working in MKA's aviation practice, Canney is in hotel/housing, Garcia is in museums and libraries, Haaland is in hotel/housing, Lent is in hotel/housing, Markey is in labs, Meyer is in hotel/housing, Miller is in retail/urban villages, Payne is in health care, Powers is in convention centers, Rogers is in hotel/housing, Sprague is in health care, Szewczyk is in hotel/housing, Wang is in sports and Thornock is in convention centers. Anthony Vandermuss is a civil design engineer; Lanny Flynn is the manager of health care projects; and Ryan Reynolds is a civil design engineer. MKA recently expanded its space in Unico's Rainier Tower to accommodate up to 50 more employees.

Fletcher Farr Ayotte added five staff members. Richard Grace has joined as a project designer. Grace has designed higher education buildings, commercial facilities and mixed-use developments. He is working on Central Oregon Community College's Cascade Culinary Institute and conceptual design for a new mixed-use building in Portland. Brinton Riggs, Zach Childs, Laura Roark and Yeosaine Huggins have joined as architectural interns. Riggs has six years of experience including retail, office and educational projects. Childs is a recent graduate of the University of Oregon's School of Architecture. Roark has six years of experience, with an emphasis on office projects, and Huggins is pursuing a master's degree in architecture at the University of Oregon's Portland Center. Riggs, Roark and Huggins are members of the White Stag block project team and Childs is working on FFA projects.

Bush, Roed & Hitchings has added two staff members: Dakin Bell has rejoined the firm as a survey project manager. Bell, a professional land surveyor, originally joined BRH in 1992 and is working on the Safeway fueling station in Lynnwood, Avalon Bay retail in Bellevue and the North Aurora project in Seattle. Joshua Campbell joined as a design engineer. Campbell has four years experience. He is working on mixed-use projects in Greenlake and Ballard, the Canyon Pointe development in Bothell and the Three Cedars Elementary school in Bellevue.

RoseWater Engineering added four new staff to the Seattle office. Jane Ward has joined the firm as a senior project manager. Ward has experience in water and wastewater facilities, project management, facility design, comprehensive planning and construction assistance. Kathleen McCullough has six years of civil engineering experience, including scheduling, estimating, production tracking, quality control, report preparation and budget tracking. Lorraine Mathews has joined the firm as a project assistant. Mathews has 10 years of administrative experience and will provide support with scheduling, database management, planning and project management. Mahboobeh Monshizadeh-Nazer joins as an accounting assistant, with 10 years of accounting experience.

Golder Associates has added three senior staff to its Northwest operations. Scott Dinkelman is a senior consultant in the Redmond office and will work in the land development group. Mitch McGinnis has also joined the Redmond office as a senior project engineering geologist and joins Dinkelman on the land development team. Kurt Schlyer joined the Seattle office as a senior consultant and has 18 years of environmental planning experience, focusing on organizing environmental compliance documents. Other additions are: Jill DeKoekkoek, geophysicist; Daryl Donatelli, staff geophysicist; Mary Harvey, geochemist; Derek Holom, hydrogeologist; Ben Mattson, engineer; Sarah Peterson, marketing support specialist; Nels Reese, field technician; Stephen Skone, Intranet tester; Gwynneth Smith, geological engineer; and Slava Stevens, AutoCAD technician.

Landau Associates has promoted staff members: Reda Mikhail to geotechnical services director; Colin Turnbull to senior engineering geologist; Clint Jacob to associate engineer; Ken Stephens to CAD lead; and Jill Raben to project coordinator/CAD manager. Landau also recently hired Doug Tingwall, cultural resources specialist; Huayang Luo, senior staff engineer; Beth Poole, staff scientist; Doann Hamilton, staff geologist in Portland; Brett Borgeson, assistant scientist; and Carrie Whitehead, marketing coordinator.

Brown and Caldwell

Brown and Caldwell has added new staff. New to the company’s water resources group is Patrick Weber, an engineer II with a master’s degree in environmental engineering from Marquette University. Brian Ruff joins the infrastructure group as an engineer III. His previous experience includes manufacturing engineering in the private sector and mechanical engineering for the California Department of Water Resources. Ian McKelvey joins the process mechanical group as an engineer II. McKelvey most recently was a research assistant at John Hopkins University, where he received his master’s in mechanical engineering. Josh Johnson re-joined Brown and Caldwell’s Olympia office as an engineer II after leaving to pursue his master’s degree in chemical engineering. He is assigned to the wastewater group, while working frequently with the water and infrastructure groups. Also joining Brown and Caldwell staff is David Smith, a technical writer, and Lisa Bennett in the office support services III position.

Herrera Environmental Consultants has appointed Ellen Ryerson as human resources manager. Ryerson has 10 years experience in human resources, including employee relations, legal compliance, policy development, training, compensation and benefit programs. She has been an HR manager for the past five years. Jennifer Swanson joins the firm as a contract administrator with more than 14 years of consulting experience in accounting and business management. Lynne Petersen joins the support services group as a word processor with 15 years of administrative experience, including eight years in engineering consulting.

Selvi Witarsa joined BrN as the firm’s office manager. Selvi will be responsible for bookkeeping, invoicing and other administrative duties. Selvi held a similar position for a construction company in San Francisco, specializing in high-end residential projects.

Weber + Thompson has added seven members to its staff: Rachael Kitagawa, job captain; William Harrison, project architect; David Newcomb, project manager; Ashleigh Hart, job captain; Michael Woodland, senior project manager/master planner; David Cheifetz, job captain; and Angela Ng, CAD drafter. Weber + Thompson’s new office building in South Lake Union will incorporate green features such as passive ventilation systems and hydronic heating. The project will seek LEED gold certification.
