The Glosten Associates

Edgar
The Glosten Associates, a Seattle-based marine engineering and naval architecture firm, promoted John Edgar to director of engineering. Edgar, a senior naval architect and firm principal, is program manager for Boeing's Sea-Based X-Band Radar Platform project. He specializes in the conceptual design of high-performance vessels and replaces Tom Bringloe, who was director of engineering for 25 years. Bringloe, who specializes in structural design and analysis, will continue as a consultant to special projects and mentor the firm's younger engineers.

R.W. Beck

R. W. Beck hired two employees to the Water and Waste Resources Sector. Andrew Baker is a civil engineer for the Seattle office's Water Resources Practice, and will provide preliminary and final design engineering for stormwater systems. Baker last interned for Anchor Environmental. Katie McNeill, based in Austin, Texas, is an analyst for the Solid Waste Practice. Most recently, she was a research analyst intern for Hester Capital Management in Texas.

Art Anderson Associates hired Donald Walker, Brieann Shearer and Cody Fawver to its Bremerton office. Donald Walker is a marine designer with 17 years of experience. Walker worked as a piping designer for Nichols Brothers Boat Builders and spent 26 years with the U.S. Navy at Pearl Harbor and Puget Sound Naval Shipyards, where he worked in project management and research/investigation. Shearer is an entry-level civil engineer who will work on both landside and marine structures. She recently interned with Lease Crutcher Lewis. Cody Fawver is a drafting and modeling intern who will work on marine design and research projects. He has assisted graphics and design instructors at South Kitsap High School and West Sound Technical Skills Center.

Hopper Dennis Jellison

Hopper Dennis Jellison's Vancouver corporate office made a series of new hires. Nicholas G. Richards, a recent graduate from Oregon State University, joins the Transportation Sector as an engineer I. Richards has been trained in geotechnical testing, materials testing and site inspection. Nicolette R. Pullen, a recent graduate from the University of Portland, joins the Residential Section as engineer I. Pullen worked as an engineering trainee for the Portland Water Bureau helping to assimilate the Powell Valley Road Water District into the water system. Robert J. Kelley has joined the Construction Services Section as inspector II and engineering technician II. He brings a background of construction inspection experience combined with years of professional civil design. Brent H. Sullivan is working with the Site Development Section through the CECOP Internship program at Oregon State University. He will be working with this group on a six-month internship as an engineering trainee.

Zimmer Gunsul Frasca Architects

Zimmer Gunsul Frasca Architects hired John Chau as principal designer and Tim Williams as associate partner and senior project manager. Chau brings 15 years of design experience including Hines Tower 333 in Bellevue, 2000 Third Avenue in Seattle, the Vancouver Convention Centre expansion in Vancouver, B.C., the proposed Landmark Academic Building at the City University of Hong Kong and the West Rail Headquarters Building in Kam Tin, Hong Kong. Chau comes from LMN in Seattle where he was also a principal designer. Williams brings 13 years of experience working on projects with a focus on higher education and performing arts. Williams worked at LMN, where he led the design team for the Business School at the University of Washington, the Music Building at the University of California, San Diego, and the Arts and Sciences Building at Everett Community College. Williams' construction administration experience includes the Cannon Center for the Performing Arts in Memphis and the headquarters for the Commercial Airplane Group at Boeing in Renton.

Mithun

Mithun recently promoted and added several employees. Wendy Abeel is director of marketing. Most recently she was with Parsons Public Relations. Dennis Cope was promoted from project director to principal, working in the senior living alliance. He joined Mithun in 2006 from HOK, where he was senior vice president and managing director. Laura Curry is the new creative director of Research + Consumer Insight. Curry has 20 years of experience performing brand audits for developers, arts organizations, design agencies and municipalities. Martha Droge joins as planner. Droge was an associate at Ayers/Saint/Gross in Maryland in the Planning Studio. Sandy Dymale has been promoted to senior associate, acting as project manager and technical advisor for the landscape team. Dymale joined Mithun in 2006 from Cameron-McCarthy-Gilbert & Scheibe in Eugene, Ore. Lisa Scribante joins Mithun as a senior associate working on branded environments projects and resort planning. She was previously a principal at Buffalo Design.

Terracon

Terracon added Jeremy C. Jeffers in the Boise office as a senior consultant. The Kansas-based consulting engineering firm offers geotechnical, environmental, construction materials, pavement and asset management services. Working closely with Zipper Zeman Associates, a subsidiary of Terracon in Washington and Oregon, he will be responsible for commercial development and retail projects throughout the Northwest. Jeffers has 26 years of retail/commercial architectural, project management and business experience.

BHC Consultants

BHC Consultants recently hired Valerie Tokumoto as staff engineer. Tokumoto is a registered engineer-in-training and is working on projects for Shoreline Water District, PRV Station Replacement for the city of Bellevue and South Central Kitsap Force Main Replacement for Kitsap County.

Thomas Hacker Architects has made 11 additions to its Portland staff. Pam Hummelt has been re-hired as architect after a five-year hiatus. Hummelt is on the design team for the Menlo School Creative Arts Complex and Performance Hall in Atherton, Calif., and worked on the New Theatre for the Oregon Shakespeare Festival in Ashland, Ore. Mike Meade is architectural job captain. He is working on the Menlo School Creative Arts Complex and Performance Hall. Laura Klinger has been hired as project designer and is working on the Mercy Corps World Headquarters in Portland. Laurie Canup, a LEED-accredited architect, is managing documentation of the College of Education project at the University of Oregon in Eugene. Annie Mahoney is LEED-accredited job captain on the University Theatre remodel and expansion project at the University of Oregon in Eugene. Steven Boyle, manager of technology, has worked in Maryland with planning, implementation and management of technical resources and facilities. Sarah Lavoie is on the design team working on the College of Education project at the University of Oregon in Eugene. Tia Nii, office assistant, is responsible for front desk and general office duties and has managed her own creative consultancy business. Cédric Rougier is a graphic designer who assists with design and presentation for projects and marketing. Rose Vadnais, a LEED-accredited architectural intern, is assisting the design team on the Undergraduate Classroom Building for the University of Washington, Vancouver. Travis Bell is an architectural intern who received his Master of Architecture degree from the University of Washington.

Communication Resources Northwest hired Kristen Anderson as senior associate. Anderson has five years experience in the architecture and engineering Industry, and will provide full-service research and corporate writing services. The management consulting firm is focused on the architecture/engineering/construction industries, and offers presentation coaching, customer and employee research, and other services.

GeoDesign

Portland-based GeoDesign, a regional geotechnical engineering and environmental consulting firm, announced some new hires. Kevin Lamb, Jason Qiu, Vasiliy Babko, Nate Cheshier and Hillary Hall join the firm's new Seattle office. Andre Mare, Viola Lai, Gary Sandstrom, Erik Hedberg, Erin Warner, Cardine Hildt, Dacia Hawkins and Lisa Locke are in the firm's Portland offices. Rick Hanford, Derek McGregor and Carrie Beveridge join the Vancouver location. Lamb, senior associate, heads the Seattle office and brings more than 18 years as a geotechnical engineer to GeoDesign. Qiu, senior project manager, has 12 years of experience in geotechnical engineering and mining waste disposal. Babko is office administrator, while Cheshier and Hall bring additional geologic experience to the firm. Mare, senior associate, has 18 years of geotechnical engineering experience and has conducted investigations for bridges, buildings, tunnels, roadways, and sewer and water supply projects. Lai, project manager, has provided on site inspection and evaluation of excavation slopes, pile installations, foundation subgrade, earth anchors and utility installations. Sandstrom, project manager, is an engineering geologist with 23 years of experience. Hedberg, project manager, joins the environmental engineering team, while Warner will conduct Phase I environmental site assessments. Hildt, support services manager, will be responsible for managing administrative, drafting and editing support services. Hawkins joins the firm as a project assistant, and Locke is the main office receptionist. Hanford, senior geotechnical engineer, brings 35 years of geotechnical engineering experience and specializes in ground improvement methods. McGregor, senior associate geologist, is relocating from Washington, D.C., to expand the firm's environmental consulting presence in southwest Washington. Beveridge, geology staff, worked in Austin, Texas, as a hydrogeologist and GIS specialist prior to joining the firm.

DLR Group

DLR Group has added nine new professionals to the Pacific Northwest team: architects Lito Panida and Rick Rajchel, architectural designers Brian Arndt and Paul Clark, electrical engineer Daryl Johns, interior designer Shabnam Sadoughian, marketing professional Denise Elliot, project administrator Eon Smith, and in accounting, Renown Sylvester.

R. W. Beck made a series of energy sector hires in the Seattle office. Garrett Moak, project engineer, will assist with gas transmission and distribution design work, as well as structural and civil design. He holds a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from Gonzaga University. Robert J. Nastan, project manager, works with high voltage electrical substation design and layout including calculations, schematics, wiring diagrams and equipment selection. Nastan was the substation engineering manager for the Snohomish County Public Utility District. James Roberts, designer, provides layout and drawing support for electrical transmission and distribution, substation and other energy utility design work. He has more than 34 years of design and drafting experience in the energy industry.
