KBA promoted
Mike Roberts and
K. Wendell Adams to firm principals. Roberts joined KBA in 2007 as a senior program manager, spearheading development of the Construction Management and Quality Control Program and working with clients throughout the region. Roberts has 20 years of experience. He is managing projects for Seattle Department of Transportation, Bothell, Tukwila and Snohomish County. Adams has been a senior program manager at KBA since 2006. He manages work for SDOT, Burien, Oak Harbor, Sammamish and Shoreline. He has more than 25 years of experience.
Sparling promoted
Tim Janof to associate principal. Janof specializes in electrical engineering and project management and has nearly 20 years of experience. He joined Sparling in 1995 and leads sustainable design research initiatives and heads a program to promote continuing education. Janof is working on projects for Amazon, Microsoft and the Westin Building in Seattle.
Core Design promoted
Lafe Hermansen and
Ken Shipley to associate partners. Hermansen has been with the firm since 2000 and leads the planning department. Hermansen's projects include master planned communities in Chelan and Silverdale, and several low impact development projects such as green roof and rain garden designs in Kirkland, and bioretention swales in Whatcom County. Shipley leads Core's survey department overseeing field survey operations, construction layout and staking. His current projects include overseeing survey services at Port Blakely Communities' Issaquah Highlands project and Polygon Northwest's Lakeland and Riverview projects in Kent and Auburn respectively. The firm also hired
Nancy Robertson as office manager. Robertson was a vice president at Edelman Public Relations.
Hart Crowser hired
Ross Stainsby in its Seattle office. Stainsby is a hydrogeologist and environmental specialist with 20 years of experience working for clients such as Sound Transit and Unocal. Stainsby's specialties are stormwater permitting and groundwater treatment system design. He is supporting industrial NPDES permitting and compliance for a boat manufacturer, environmental remediation for Tacoma and cleanup of lead-contaminated soil.
Kennedy/Jenks Consultants named
Patrick T. Huston director of the water environment group. Huston will provide strategic leadership and development of the practice, and oversight of client service and project development activities. Huston has more than 15 years of experience in water resources consulting and planning, design, and construction of water, wastewater, and recycled water facilities. Huston was the Southern California regional manager.

Tiffany Bowie was hired as a design associate. Bowie has six years of experience and is working on a remodel of the Sound Mind and Body gym in Fremont.
Richard S. Coxon was hired as a senior technical architect, in charge of the office quality control program. Coxon has more than 30 years of architectural experience.
Roy Ley was hired as a design associate. Ley is working on a commercial/mixed use development on Alki in West Seattle.
Codi Lodi was also hired as a design associate. Lodi has strong computer and design skills and is working on a sustainable multi-family project in the University District.
Kim Mankowski was hired as interiors project manager. Mankowski has more than eight years of experience in residential and commercial interiors. She is working on the interiors for a large waterfront home. The firm also hired
Chris McAdams as a design associate. McAdams is acting in a support role for a mixed-use development on the west slope of Queen Anne.
Nancy Pascoe was hired as marketing coordinator. She has more than 20 years of experience in marketing and publishing and was formerly administrative and marketing coordinator for Ross Chapin Architects on Whidbey Island.
Lindsey Runyon was hired as an interior designer. Runyon is working on the interiors for several multi-family projects.
Aaron Schaefer was hired as a design associate. Schaefer has 10 years of experience and is project lead on Essex on the Park, a 10-story residential project in Bellevue. Architect
Jon Szczesniak has five years of experience with a background in computer technology. He is spearheading the move to Revet modeling technology while serving as project architect on a large mixed-use project in Bellevue.
ESM hired Rusty Gigstead as senior engineer. Gigstead has more than 20 years of design and project management experience on civil transportation, project construction, system planning, utility design, and conservation and environmental restoration projects. Gigstead was a design engineer and project inspector for WSDOT. His past projects include the Kittitas County Taneum Creek fish passage study, Ephrata bike and pedestrian path, State Route 2 Widening over Stevens Pass and the Olympia Freeway Expansion. Andrew Campbell has been hired as assistant planner. Campbell has performed lead roles in SEPA review, code administration and ensured compliance with FWCC regulations and state and national environmental guidelines. Campbell is working on residential, commercial and mixed-use projects.

Karen Niemi as a principal and
Mary Smith and
Kate Popovich as associates in its interior design group. Niemi will lead the corporate interior architecture team in Portland and Bellevue. Niemi has more than 25 years of experience and was most recently director of interior design and a partner at Fletcher Farr Ayotte in Portland. Her past projects include corporate headquarters for Knowledge Learning Corp., The Regence Group and Pacificorp. Smith has 15 years of experience in interior architecture and recently worked on The Wyatt in downtown Portland, a 15-story luxury high-rise residential project, while at her previous firm. Popovich has three years of interior design experience. She specializes in corporate, high-end residential and public projects.
Art Anderson Associates hired
Marnie Adamski and
Clinton Geiger. Adamski, a designer/drafter and Geiger, an electrical engineer, joined the engineering consulting firm to work on a design-build contract with native-owned Alutiiq Inc. The project involves upgrades at the Naval Air Station on Whidbey Island to make space for the new E/A-18G Growler, the Navy’s new electronic attack aircraft. Geiger has a background in Dept. of Defense facilities. His most recent work experience was for Overstreet Electric, where he performed electrical, civil and structural inspection at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard.
TVA Architects promoted
Susan Hargrave and
Mark Williams to senior associates and
Nick Williams to associate. Hargrave has been with the firm for 11 years and most recently worked on the renovation of the historic Cornelius (Alder Park) Hotel in downtown Portland, and on the Stop Motion Building for the Laika Animation Campus in Tualatin. Mark Williams has worked at TVA Architects for four years, and was project manager on the John Ross Condominium Tower in Portland’s South Waterfront district. He is working on the University of Oregon Arena. Nick Williams has worked for the firm for six years, currently as project manager on the Waterfront Park Plaza project. He recently worked on two major renovation projects in downtown Portland.

Ron Bolstad to help lead the architecture and urban design firm. His background includes 20 years at NBBJ and nearly a decade at LMN Architects. Bolstad has served as project manager for many well-known Seattle projects, including the Washington State Convention and Trade Center, and Harborview Medical Center. He will oversee project delivery, from programming through construction administration. The firm also added designers

Ryan Reich was promoted to senior staff geologist. Reich has obtained his Washington state geology license. Reich provides soil and groundwater sampling, Phase I Environmental Site Assessments, and remedial investigations.
GGLO promoted six employees. Kimberly M. Frank, Jonathan Hall, Mark Sindell and Pamela Trevithick were promoted to senior associates. Frank has experience as project manager and interior designer on multifamily housing, hotels, conference centers, corporate and retail projects. Hall’s background is in multi-family, mixed-use, and retail. A licensed landscape architect, Sindell has more than 10 years of public and private experience that ranges from urban design to parks, courtyards and gardens. Trevithick has broad expertise in schematic design and contract management. As an administrator, she oversees working drawings, builds systems research, develops specifications and coordinates supporting design staff. The firm also promoted Steve Fischer and Alicia Daniels Uhlig to associates. Fischer has more than 19 years of experience as an architect and designer for hospitality, mixed-use, housing, retail and commercial office projects. Uhlig is co-chair of GGLO’s Sustainable Design Group.
GeoEngineers made several promotions and hires. Chris Nordfors, Jim Roth, Terry McPhetridge, Joanne Markert, Paul Szewczykowski and Matt Blankenship were promoted to associates. Corporate marketing director Nordfors has worked out of the Redmond office for almost two years. Roth works in the Seattle office and has been with the firm for 19 years. He works on the site assessment and remediation group, and is also a construction dewatering expert. Roth played a key role in completing several large cleanup actions for the University of Washington and the Port of Anacortes. McPhetridge has been with the firm for seven years and has 20 years of experience in the environmental industry. He is the acting environmental group manager in the Tacoma office. Markert, who works in the Tacoma office, has been with GeoEngineers since 1999 and has worked in the applied technology /GIS field for more than 14 years. Szewczykowski is an environmental scientist with more than 20 years of experience providing ecological and permitting services. Szewczykowski joined the Bellingham office last year. Blankenship works in the Spokane office and has led the special inspection and testing team for several years, The firm also promoted April Brast from the Spokane office to corporate marketing and public involvement specialist, and hired Ron Costello as a principal in its Portland office. Brast started at GeoEngineers in 2006 and has assisted on public involvement projects for municipal clients. Costello has 35 years of experience with environmental issues related to fishery and water-resource projects. Previously, he worked with the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation.
