GeoEngineers' Spokane office made several promotions.
Jon Rudders was promoted to senior 2 hydrogeologist. He was previously a senior 1 hydrogeologist.
Lynn Schmidt, engineer-in-training, was promoted to staff 2 water resources engineer. She was previously a staff 1 engineer.
Ku Kwon, engineer-in-training, has been promoted to staff 2 geotechnical engineer. He was previously a staff 1 geotechnical engineer.
Dave Thompson was promoted to lead technician. He was previously a senior technician. The firm also hired
Kate Cassidy, geologist-in-training, as a staff 3 environmental geologist in the Spokane office. She previously worked for Black & Veatch as a staff geologist.
Studio Meng Strazzara architect
Tony Fan recently received his architecture license from the state of Washington, and the firm hired
Mark Wainwright as director of marketing and
Leah Hardan was named marketing coordinator. Fan has been at Studio Meng Strazzara for 11 years, specializing in renderings and graphic design for multifamily, mixed-use and high-end single family residence projects. Fan also provides conceptual design support for the residential and school design studios. Wainwright has spent the last six years as the marketing manager for GGLO. Hardan was previously construction administration coordinator.
Murase Associates hired
Jesse Stemmler and
Andrea Kuns as landscape designers. Stemmler's experience includes site analysis, model construction and construction documentation. He previously worked at San Francisco-based Lutsko Associates where he was involved with projects ranging from campus master plans and transit-oriented developments to urban parks and residential estates. He is working on Terrace Trails Park, Rudney Residence and the Clark College Japanese Garden. Kuns has a strong base of skills in technical detailing, presentation graphics, and 3-D rendering. She is working on Gilbert Heights Park, Willamette Falls Hospital and the Crest Environmental Learning Center.

Gary Lauerman as a project manager and architect. As an architect licensed in Washington for 16 years, Lauerman has experience in residential, tenant improvements, office buildings, historic renovations and public sector projects.
SMR Architects hired
Kimberly McKittrick as an associate and project architect. She has more than 19 years of experience on multifamily and other projects. She is working on affordable housing for the YWCA and for Intercommunity Mercy Housing. The firm also hired
Amanda Mauzey and
Brett Barbakoff as intern architects. Mauzey is working on artist housing for Artspace Project, and Barbakoff is working on mixed-income Eastside housing for the YWCA.
Michael Willis Architects promoted
Jean von Bargen and
Bradley Bane to associates in its Portland office. Von Bargen leads the office in setting sustainability standards and has 10 years of experience in planning and design of affordable housing, mixed-use, commercial and industrial projects. She recently completed the 65-unit mixed-use building at Humboldt Gardens and is working on an interstate maintenance facility for the Portland Water Bureau. Bargen is also an adjunct assistant professor at the University of Oregon. Bane has 13 years of experience and has focused on multi-family residential projects at Michael Willis. Bane is working on the Housing Authority of Portland's Hillsdale Terrace and Olympia Crest Phase II, a 24-unit affordable housing project for the Housing Authority of Thurston County.
Farallon Consulting hired Kristin J. Darnell in the environmental sciences group and Branislav Jurista as associate geologist. Darnell has 11 years of environmental engineering experience. Her professional experience includes RCRA permitting and RCRA- and CERCLA-based remedial investigations and feasibility studies at industrial facilities and abandoned hazardous waste sites. Darnell provides strategic support for remedial investigations and feasibility studies across the Pacific Northwest. Prior to joining Farallon's geology/hydrogeology group, Jurista worked for 12 years as a project geologist at a Michigan environmental consulting firm. As associate geologist with Farallon, he is involved in the conceptual design and management of remediation systems, and evaluating the geological and environmental relationships of glacial and bedrock stratigraphy and hydrogeology.
GeoEngineers hired Tammie Fehn as human resources officer, principal and member of the executive management group. Fehn has more than 20 years of executive management experience in human resources. Her experience includes serving as corporate vice president of human resources for London Fog Industries and most recently as executive director of human resources for Callison.
