NBBJ promoted
Duncan Griffin and
Eric Hanson to principal. Since joining NBBJ in 1996, Griffin has increased the focus on sustainable design, specifically in health care. Projects he worked on include the University of Washington Medical Center Campus Expansion and Washington State University Biomedical and Health Sciences. Hanson has 30 years of design experience in education, health care and critical facilities. Most recently he worked on the Li Ka Shing Center for Learning and Knowledge at Stanford University School of Medicine and the Washington State DIS Data Center. NBBJ is an architecture, planning and design firm with offices in North America, the United Kingdom, Middle East and China.
David Evans, founder of David Evans and Associates, will retire as chairman of the board of directors of DEA's parent company, David Evans Enterprises, Inc., effective March 14. Evans will continue to serve as chairman emeritus.
Ken Wightman will succeed Evans as chairman. Wightman is a 27-year veteran of the firm and is CEO of DEEI. Evans opened David Evans and Associates in 1976 in Portland. It has grown to 17 offices in seven states, with four offices in Washington: Bellevue, Everett, Spokane, and Tacoma. The staff includes engineers, surveyors, hydrographers, planners, landscape architects and natural resources scientists.
Jonathan Wehri joined NAC|Architecture as a project designer. He has nine years of experience in architecture, including K-12 and higher education. Wehri will work on View Ridge Elementary School for Everett Public Schools. He most recently was a project designer for SHW Group in Reston, Va. NAC specializes in planning, design, engineering, and consulting services.
Tetra Tech hired
Chris Bartlett as a mechanical engineer,
Tim Monahan as an architect,
Todd St. George as a structural engineer and
Andrew Diehl as an architectural designer. Bartlett has HVAC and plumbing design experience, including schools, jails, supermarkets, nursing homes and medical facilities. He will work in the facilities group. Monahan has 35-plus years of experience in design of schools, dental clinics, multifamily and business parks. He will market to schools and municipalities and do project management, design and estimating. St. George has 15 years in civil and structural design and construction. Earlier projects include Seattle City Hall, and he will work on the Officer Training Command Quarters in Newport, R.I. Diehl previously interned with a Tetra Tech office in Rochester, N.Y. He is a recent graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and will assist the facilities team. Tetra Tech provides consulting, architecture and engineering, and technical services worldwide.
Sparling promoted
Jiun Kam to associate. Kam has a background in electrical engineering, focusing on military and health care. Sparling is an electrical engineering and technology consulting firm.
Candela promoted
Lauren MacLeod to associate principal. MacLeod has 20-plus years as a lighting consultant, designer and instructor. She has worked on Olive 8 in downtown Seattle and the Uniqlo Retail Development in Shanghai. Candela provides lighting consulting and design services.
BLRB Architects promoted
Ron Harpel to principal and
Jonah Jensen to associate. Harpel has been with the firm for 10 years and has 20-plus years of experience in development and design of public facilities. He is working on Tacoma Public Schools' Baker Middle School. Jensen joined BLRB in 2006 as an intern architect, and worked on Pacific Plaza. His projects include Sumner School District's Maple Lawn Elementary School. Tacoma-based BLRB specializes in projects for educational and community clients.
Joel Ragan Enevold earned his California engineer license and
Christina E. Raschko earned her lighting certification. Enevold is a senior electrical engineer with MW Consulting Engineers and Raschko is a senior lighting designer for Escent, the architectural lighting design division of the firm. Spokane-based MW specializes in mechanical, electrical and electronics engineering.
