Hart Crowser promoted fisheries biologist Jim Starkes and marketing manager Susan Kemp to senior associate, and geotechnical engineers Matt Veenstra, Ben Blanchette and Brice Exley to associate. Starkes has 28 years of experience in marine nearshore environmental impacts, and conducting studies, monitoring and preparing conservation plans for sensitive, threatened and endangered species. He also creates plans for aquatic and fish habitats to offset the impacts of waterfront development. Kemp is responsible for proposals, corporate communication and social media. She has 24 years of experience, and was on the SMPS Seattle board as director of education. Veenstra has managed infrastructure projects for transportation departments, ports and the Department of Defense, along with commercial, residential and industrial buildings. Blanchette has managed geotechnical investigations for major new projects at Sea-Tac, including the International Arrivals Facility. Exley has managed high-rise, waterfront and transportation developments, many requiring complex computer modeling. Harmon holds a Ph.D. and has developed geotechnical earthquake engineering software and models. Ellingsen has six years of experience. He will support residential and commercial buildings, and waterfront projects. Robinson has a master's in civil engineering from Mississippi State. He will focus on levee embankment and geological hazards, including landslides, deep foundation excavations and disaster resilience. Rosenberg assessed the risk of landslides and rockfall along roadways for the National Park Service in Alaska. He will work on geologic hazard assessments, investigate landslides and unstable slopes, conduct rock slope mapping and do geologic investigations. It promoted Mark Davies to director of infrastructure design services and Caroline Jones to proposal coordinator. Van de Fen has over 20 years of experience that includes work at MIG|SvR|Portico. Estes will assist with botanical gardens, streetscape master plans and international projects. Speer uses his travel background to support the team in international travel. Moore is an engineer-in-training who supports the team. Davies manages business operations, scheduling and staffing. Jones supports the marketing operations team and leads the firm's social media presence. MIG|SvR|Portico is a planning, civil engineering, architecture and landscape architecture firm.

Stuart Rothenberger joins as global higher education leader to expand the higher education practice. He is in the Washington, D.C. office, but will relocate to Denver. DLR provides architecture, engineering, interiors, planning and building optimization.

Fehr & Peers promoted Aaron Gooze to associate, Carmen Kwan to senior engineer and Peter Nguyen to senior technician in Seattle. Gooze has led transportation data analysis, specifically in transit planning, non-motorized accessibility and multimodal transportation operations. Kwan has experience in traffic operations microsimulation and travel demand forecasting, and leads the training program in Seattle. Nguyen uses graphic design and GIS on projects that include spatial analysis with a focus on cartographic design. Fehr & Peers is a multimodal transportation planning and engineering consulting firm.

Gertz provides geotechnical and construction monitoring, and has experience in geotechnical exploration, settlement design, landslide analysis and retaining walls. Ives has five years of environmental consulting experience focused on toxic cleanups. Bergseng supports environmental and civil engineering projects, and specializes in stormwater and wastewater conveyance and treatment and NPDES permitting. Wynkoop, a senior project manager, leads the vapor intrusion and indoor air assessment practice. She has a background in environmental assessment and remediation, natural resources, and environmental permitting and manages the firm's largest project — a contaminated groundwater investigation and cleanup in the Seattle area. Simpson does geotechnical field investigations, provides design and seismic response analysis of geotechnical structures, and tests geo-materials. Kostka provides field support for environmental site investigations, operates and maintains treatment systems, and monitors groundwater, surface water, soil and soil vapor. Raspen prepares regulatory compliance and engineering documents and has managed stormwater permit compliance for facilities. Edmonds-based Landau provides geotechnical and environmental engineering, environmental site management, and permitting and compliance services.

Transportation Solutions, a Redmond transportation engineering and planning firm, hired Jeff Elekes as director of municipal services. His experience includes 20 years with the city of Lynnwood and 12 in the private sector. His skills allow TSI to now offer pavement management systems, capital projects strategic planning, administration and design, municipal and infrastructure financing, public involvement and state/federal grant application.
