Structural engineering firm Cary Kopczynski & Co. promoted Andy Tu and Jason Thome to senior associate, Jerry Lee and Joel Kipple to associate, Stephanie Vincent to level 2 design engineer, Angela Wang to level 5 senior BIM modeler and hired Sam Dougherty as a design engineer in the Bellevue headquarters.

Tu has over 17 years of structural engineering experience and has been involved in the structural design of urban residential towers, mixed-use projects and parking structures. His current projects include 222 Fifth Ave. N. in Seattle. Thome has over 14 years of structural engineering experience and has designed high-rises, with an emphasis on performance-based design methodologies, an approach applied to buildings over 240 feet in high-seismic regions. His current projects include Belltown 36 in Seattle.

Lee has over 10 years of structural engineering experience. He will coordinate CKC's pursuit of innovative design and construction and continue as a senior design engineer. His current projects include 1000 Virginia in Seattle. Kipple has over 13 years of experience in the design of reinforced concrete, steel, masonry and wood building structures. His current projects include West Meeker & 64th in Kent and Point Ruston in Tacoma.

Vincent has four years at CKC. She assists with shop drawings and submittal reviews along with applying engineering analysis and calculations. Her current projects include the Quil Ceda Creek Casino parking structure in Marysville. Wang has five years at CKC. She uses Revit Structure to produce 3D model and drawings while managing quality control reviews and project drafting. Her current projects include Press Blocks in Portland.

Dougherty has two years of experience in gravity and lateral design of building structures for multifamily and seismic retrofit projects. He will work with project managers and principals with inside coordination and design engineering of building elements.

In Seattle, Hart Crowser hired Yumeng Tao and Michael Liu as geotechnical engineers and Ayla Heinze Fry, Tatum McLeod, Sabine Grupp and Sarah Strozyk as geologists.

Tao has a Ph.D. in geotechnical engineering from the University of Texas at Austin and will work on projects involving seismic engineering and computer modeling. Liu has a master's in civil and environmental engineering from the University of Michigan and will work on high-rise, building and transportation projects.

Heinze Fry has a master's in earth and space sciences applied geosciences from the University of Washington and has been an earthquake program intern at Camp Murray for the Washington State Emergency Management Division. McLeod has a bachelor's in geology from Western Washington University. Grupp has a bachelor's in geology from WWU. Strozyk has dual degrees in geology and economics from Whitman College. Heinze Fry, McLeod, Grupp and Strozyk will support project construction including building, transit, military and waterfront development.

Engineering firm Davido Consulting Group hired Erin Poor, Cassandra Steffen, Louis Garcia, Tabatha Dye, Shivam Ohri, Simon Gebregziabher, Jeremy Valdez, Filmon Araya, Chester Bennett, Kristopher Keenan, Raquel Callans and Steve Robert as civil engineers.

Melissa McKenry Doonan and Josh Romine joined the structural department. Madeleine Friend, Greg Reed, Chris Karmell, Gerda Szoboszlai and Joshua Spaulding are additions to the drafting department and Chrissy Lemrick was hired as a project resource manager.

Robert is a senior civil engineer with 13 years of experience leading waterfront site development. That experience includes seawalls, piers, floating docks, stormwater and utility design. He is working on Wollochet Campus and the Fauntleroy Creek culvert replacement. Doonan is a senior structural engineer with 22 years of experience leading design on low-rise buildings and other structures on the West Coast. Her experience includes structural design of churches, retail, multifamily, mixed use, industrial buildings and waterfront structures. She is working on Skagit County Courthouse seismic upgrades and Tukwila Village.

Seattle-based Weinstein A+U hired Mina Fatherazi as chief financial officer and accounting manager, Lindsay Koski as a design staff member and Marayd Hendricks and Will Brechter as architects. Fatherazi has over 20 years of experience in accounting and financial analysis. She supports and directs the firm's financial goals, objectives and budget. Koski has four years of experience on single-family, multifamily and master planning projects. She will generate housing strategies that support sustainable and vibrant communities. Hendricks has six years of experience in a range of project types. In Pittsburgh, she designed and managed multifamily mixed-use, adaptive reuse, retail and master planning projects. Brechter has four years of experience on single-family, multifamily, commercial and adaptive reuse projects.

In Seattle, Parametrix hired Luke Miller as a surveying supervisor and Tiffany Neier as a senior engineer. In Puyallup, it hired Dmitri Suslikov as a senior transportation engineer. Miller will manage work for the Seattle survey group. He has 15 years of experience in survey types that include residential and commercial. He was with David Evans & Associates. Neier is in the surface water practice, providing engineering to local agencies. She has 10 years of experience on green stormwater infrastructure projects and hydrologic and hydraulic modeling analysis. She has done projects for King County Wastewater Treatment Division and most recently was with BHC Consultants. Suslikov will work on municipal transportation projects for local agencies. He has nearly 20 years of experience specializing in municipal projects with a focus in road design. His work has included the Chumstick Creek Fish Passage Improvement project in Chelan County. He was with Exeltech Consulting. Parametrix provides engineering, planning and environmental sciences.

In Seattle, Sazan Environmental Services hired Jennifer Frey as an associate and green building consultant, Paulette Buse as the operations administrator, Jaron Burbank as an engineering technician and Polly Membrino as a project coordinator. Frey will enhance the firm's sustainability consulting services. Buse will manage contracts, personnel and resources. Burbank will assist the commissioning team with plan development, reporting and field surveys. Membrino will focus on urban planning, LEED-EBOM projects and value engineering studies. The firm helps optimize building design and performance through third-party review services.

SH Architecture appointed Eric M. Roberts president and chief executive officer, succeeding John Anderson. Roberts, 43, joined the firm in 2005 and since 2016 has been vice president and director of the Las Vegas office. He won AIA Nevada's silver medal in 2015 and the Young Architects Award from the American Institute of Architects in 2019. He holds master's and bachelor's degrees in architecture from the University of Idaho. Anderson will direct the Redmond office, which opened in 2017. He will continue as vice president and chief operations officer. He has been with the firm for 25 years, the last 11 as chief executive officer. The appointments are part of a continuing strategic repositioning and rebranding by the 34-year-old regional architecture and community design firm, which also has a Salt Lake City office. The firm has nearly 40 employees.

HNTB Corp. named Jennie Santoro its Seattle architecture studio leader. Based in the Bellevue office, Santoro oversees architects and structural engineers and becomes the new client service leader for the Port of Seattle and Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. An architect, she has over a decade of experience on aviation projects, including United Airlines Terminal 7 and 8 redevelopment at Los Angeles International Airport. She has also worked on HNTB projects at international airports in Seattle; San Francisco; Denver; Oakland, California; Hawaii; and Bermuda. HNTB is an infrastructure firm.

Austin Miles, project manager with HKP Architects, completed the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction Building Conditions Assessment training. He joins the statewide list of certified BCA consultants qualified to perform certified building condition assessments for school districts as part of the OSPI Asset Preservation Program and the Study and Survey process for Washington school districts.
