Public47 Architects has announced a new associate group which will include Hayley Buckbee, Martha Cox, Steven Jackson, Jon Kwon, and Mike Laurencelle. This associate group will provide additional leadership as the firm moves forward into its second decade.

Raised and educated in the Pacific Northwest, Buckbee is a graduate of Portland State University and received her Master of Architecture degree from University of Washington. She has worked on various project sizes and types ranging from residential remodels to urban mixed-use. In addition to her work with Public, she co-runs a site-specific art installation collaborative and has taught architectural studio at UW.

Cox is a licensed architect with ten years of experience on a wide range of projects with a growing expertise in mass timber. She is deeply involved in ULI Northwest, serving on the local multi-family product council as well as co-chairing the ULI Northwest Young Leaders Group Board. She was recently awarded the ULI Prologis Achievement Award. She holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Rice University.

Jackson, a graduate of the University of Colorado and University of Washington's Master of Architecture program, is a licensed architect with a background in furniture design and fabrication. Many of his projects have dealt with challenging sites and complex zoning issues.

Kwon is a licensed architect with over 30 years of experience on a wide range of projects from police precincts to downtown towers to single-family homes. He is detail-oriented and brings technical expertise to the team while serving as a mentor to the younger staff.

An east-coast transplant and University of Washington graduate, Laurencelle has worked on a variety of project types including urban mixed-use, adaptive reuse, and multifamily housing exploring high-performance building technologies and mass timber construction. He is also a certified Construction Document Technologist.

RMC Architects has hired Ellie Cuthrell as a design professional. Cuthrell received a Bachelor of Architecture in 2022 from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. She also minored in Computer Science.

She is currently working on State Street Creamery in Bellingham. The project is a multifamily/commercial site capacity study for 98 units of housing with ground floor commercial space. She is also working on the Skagit Valley College Learning Commons project in Mount Vernon, WA. Using her considerable graphic and CAD rendering skills, Cuthrell will assist RMC with visualizing design concepts for a variety of building types.

RMC has also promoted Jason Williard AIA, LEED AP to principal. As part of the firm's strategic plan to ensure a successful future, this promotion recognizes the importance of ushering in a new generation of leadership.

Williard joined RMC in 2006. He has worked on some of RMC's most notable projects, including Peoples Bank in the Barkley Financial District, the Rocket Building in the Fairhaven Historic District, Spring Street Landing on the Friday Harbor Waterfront, and Bellingham Public Schools District Office Building, currently in progress.

Kevin Stewart has joined Cushing Terrell as food and beverage design studio director. Stewart will lead new business pursuits, strategic partnership development, and client relationship management for the firm's food and beverage work.

Stewart brings more than 20 years of experience to the Cushing Terrell team, ranging from hospitality, food and beverage, and cultural projects to commercial office, mixed-use, multi-family, and single-family residential projects.

Stewart will support Cushing Terrell's strategic goal to expand its food and beverage work for clients across the United States. This will involve increasing awareness of the firm's project experience and multidisciplinary capabilities, continuing to grow the food and beverage team, and identifying opportunities to support current and new clients with their project needs.

Prior to joining Cushing Terrell, Stewart was the principal and founder of his own architecture firm, Design Hound, based in Austin, Texas. Earlier, he worked for several architecture firms in Texas and Arizona, serving in the roles of project manager and project architect, as well as leading marketing, client relations, and staff management and development. He has experience in all aspects of the design process, from conceptual design and production to construction documents and contractor team management. He is a registered architect in the states of Arizona, Idaho, and Texas.

ZGF has promoted the following team members to pricipal; Kendall Strong, Marty Brennan, Justin Rabe, Flavia Grey and Chris Griffes.

Strong is an architect with nearly 20 years of experience working on complex healthcare projects, from outpatient facilities to a major children's hospital expansion. She advocates for the integration of sustainable design features whenever possible.

As a project manager, Strong is actively involved in all aspects of day-to-day project operations from programming through construction.

Brennan, AIA, WELL APA, is an architect, sustainability leader, and light health researcher with 15 years of experience. In addition to supporting project teams, he has helped developed multiple open-source tools for carbon reduction and daylighting analysis, co-authored applied research papers, and spoken on international stages about various sustainability and public health topics. He was also a light concept advisor for the WELL Building Institute.

Rabe, PE, is an architect and technical designer with extensive background in healthcare and higher education projects. His two decades of combined architecture and engineering expertise allows him to engage in all project phases, from developing design and phasing strategies, to ensuring the chosen building systems are compatible with the project goals, to leading construction documentation and administration efforts.

Grey, PhD, leads ZGF's firm-wide data strategy and research development efforts, championing the use of data-driven solutions to aid in design development, decision making, and performance evaluation across all project typologies and phases. As a Stanford University researcher, Grey has authored a variety of peer-reviewed studies examining the connections between building design, sustainability, occupant wellbeing and productivity. She regularly speaks and guest-lectures on these topics.

Griffes, RA, CDT, LEED AP, brings over four decades of experience as an architect and project manager, specializing in the technical components of projects and refinement of the documentation process. Today he spends most of his time staffing and hiring, ensuring that project teams have the right talent and staff are working on projects aligned with their goals and skillsets.

BLRB Architects announced the following 2023 staff promotions across the firm's regional offices.

Nicholas Radon, Sarah Fischer, and Amy Vohs have all been promoted to associate principal; and Amy McCarthy-Smith has been promoted to associate.

Radon, AIA, LEED Green Associate, is located in the firm's Bend office and helps lead the firm's commercial and housing projects in Oregon. With 20 years of experience, Radon has worked on a variety of mixed-use and multi-family projects along the West Coast ranging from $50,000 to over $200 million in construction costs. He has expertise in all phases of the design process from master planning and feasibility through construction and project close-out. His recent projects include The Hixon at Westside Yard (Bend), HiLine Homes Office (Redmond), Modera Century West Apartments (Bend), NW Wall Street Multifamily (Bend), and Reserves at Pilot Butte (Bend).

Fischer, AIA, LEED AP, has 20 years of experience on a variety of public projects and is located in the firm's Tacoma office. Fischer has been recognized as an inclusive and collaborative project leader with a unique background in education, industrial, and parks sectors, serving both civic and commercial clients. Recently managed projects include the Fawcett Elementary School Replacement for Tacoma Public Schools, Steilacoom DuPont Elementary School, the Negus Transfer Station for Deschutes County, Oregon, and the Spencer Creek Industrial Park for the Port of Kalama.

Vohs, AIA, NCARB, recently joined BLRB's Portland's office and helps lead K-12 and public projects for the firm. Vohs brings 25 years of experience with master planning, long range facility planning, sustainable facility design and a detailed approach to project documentation and delivery. Her recent projects include the expansion of Trinity Lutheran School in Bend, the Veneta District Headquarters and Crew House for the Oregon Department of Forestry and a variety of K-12 planning and design projects.

McCarthy-Smith, AIA, NCARB, has been elevated to associate of the firm. Located in BLRB's Bend office, she is an organized, detail-driven architect and designer with experience in K-12, commercial and housing projects. Her recent projects include the expansion of Trinity Lutheran School in Bend, The Linden at Brookfield Senior Living (Connecticut), The Vero at Newark Senior Living (Delaware), The Vero at Bethlehem Senior Living (Pennsylvania), and The Vero at Chesapeake Senior Living (Virginia).

Quist-Therson attended the New Jersey Institute of Technology where she received her BA in Architecture and her MBA in Project Management from Strayer University. She has over 15 years' experience in the field of Architecture along with a passion for interior design and space planning.

Her expertise is in all phases of the design process, including federal, commercial, civil, residential, interior and ADA improvement projects.

Graham Baba Architects has promoted Maureen O'Leary and Brian Jonas to partner. The two join Jim Graham and Brett Baba as owners of the firm.

O'Leary's work includes the Alaska Airlines Flagship Lounge at Sea-Tac's North Satellite Terminal, the Kenmore Hangar, Pybus Market in Wenatchee, and the St. Joseph School Library renovation in Seattle. Her ongoing work includes the new home for Molbak's Garden + Home at the Gardens District in Woodinville, Washington.

Jonas' work includes the new Ballard Food Bank in Seattle, Center Table Dining Hall at the University of Washington, and the new physical brand identity and stores for PCC Community Markets in the Puget Sound region. His current work includes a restaurant and retail complex for a large technology company campus, and the new home for Photographic Center Northwest in Capitol Hill.

Jeff Peacock, PE, has been appointed as chair of Parametrix's Board of Directors. He recently transitioned from chief executive officer, a position he held for 15 years, to executive advisor, supporting strategic growth and mergers and acquisitions. Parametrix announced the selection of John Willis as the new CEO earlier this year.

Peacock joined Parametrix in 1990 and has played a key role in developing the company's transportation practice, including projects such as the SR 520 Floating Bridge, the SR 3/SR 304 Gorst to Bremerton Ferry Terminal project, the US 101 Coastal Corridor, and many others.

He served as president and chief executive officer from 2008 through 2022, during which time he led the firm through the great recession and the COVID-19 pandemic, including the transition to remote and hybrid work. Under his leadership, the firm expanded to five new states. In 2018, he was named Engineer of the Year by the American Council of Engineering Companies of Washington.

He succeeds Parametrix founder, Waite Dalrymple, as chair of the board. Dalrymple has served as chair of the board for nearly 30 years. He will continue to serve on the board. Parametrix's Board of Directors includes eight members, six of which are external to the company, who are responsible for guiding the firm's long-term vision.

Studio Meng Strazzara announced the promotion of several employees to leadership positions. Tony Fan has been promoted to principal, while Kris Feliciano, Robert Landa, and Bryant Draper have been promoted to associate principal.

Fan, AIA, LEED AP, began his career with SMS in 1997. With more than 25 years of experience, Fan provides feasibility studies, design development solutions, and construction documents for public and private projects.

Feliciano, AIA, has contributed to a variety of mixed-use and education projects during her 10 years with the firm. She guides projects from design through construction. Her work on The Little School recently received a Merit Award from the Association for Learning Environments (A4LE) Washington Chapter.

Landa, RA, LEED AP, maintains a focus on constructability, regularly working with teams to simplify complex designs into buildable elements. With more than 20 years of diverse design experience, he takes creative ideas and applies practical solutions while honoring each design's intent.

Draper has been designing public facilities for more than 20 years. He excels at balancing life-cycle costs with aesthetics. By prioritizing durability and sustainability, Draper's designs provide long-term value to public clients, helping them fulfill their fiscal responsibility to taxpayers.
