Andrew Bergh: Floods offer new lesson on reading the fine print

The recent flooding from severe winter weather reportedly caused $100 million in damage to public and private property in Washington state. That means many homeowners and business owners who didn't have flood insurance might be kicking themselves right about now.

For that matter, some flood victims might want to kick their insurance agents for not advising them to buy flood insurance. But as a victim of Hurricane Katrina recently learned, suing your insurance agent for damages for not obtaining flood insurance can be a risky venture.
