Hadley Green Creates

Seattle marketing communications agency Hadley Green Creates named John Rubino managing director. Rubino will work on client service, finance and operations. He managed global branding and graphic design at the Seattle architecture and design firm NBBJ, and was also with the Seattle office of Landor Associates for 10 years.

Potlatch

Spokane-based Potlatch Corp. named Robert P. DeVleming acting vice president of its consumer products division. DeVleming will continue to be based in Lewiston, Idaho. He replaces Craig H. Nelson, who resigned. DeVleming joined the company as an hourly employee and became a supervisor in manufacturing, then a sales and marketing manager.

NS8 Corp.

NS8 Corp. added two senior marketing and business development executives. Brad Post is a chief advisor for North America market positioning, partnership management and client services. Post was a senior management employee for Microsoft and Boeing, as well as a consultant to Intel, Deloitte & Touche and CH2M Hill. Emma Steinberg is vice president for business development for North America telecommunications technologies. Steinberg directed channel sales for Savvis Communication, and also worked at Internap Network Services to launch a program for sales through referral, agent and reseller partnerships. Headquartered in Seattle, NS8 Corp. does its primary research and development in British Columbia.

SMO Multimedia

Robert Gallner is president of Everson-based SMO Multimedia Corp., a wholly owned subsidiary of Strategic Management & Opportunity Corp. Strategic focuses on managed networks, and kiosk information and content delivery systems. Gallner has 23 years of sales and operations experience and is responsible for worldwide sales and business alliances. Gallner worked with the states of Oregon and Michigan, and Washington Metro Area Transit.

Central Washington University

Central Washington University in Ellensburg named George Cole development officer for the College of Arts and Humanities and College of the Sciences. Cole directed fundraising for the public television system MontanaPBS, where he led a $9.6 million capital campaign to convert to digital transmission. Cole was senior international business advisor for the Global Technology Network, which assists U.S. businesses position environmental products and services in 28 countries, and economic development director for the city of Imperial Beach, Calif.

Starbucks

Starbucks Coffee Co. named Gerardo "Gerry" Lopez senior vice president and president of global consumer products. He will lead strategy to support expansion of consumer products. Lopez was president of Handleman Entertainment Resources, a company that distributes music. Starbucks has more than 8,000 retail locations in North America, Latin America, Europe, the Middle East and the Pacific Rim.

Sonus Pharmaceuticals

Sonus Pharmaceuticals, an oncology drug development company, appointed Alan Fuhrman senior vice president and chief financial officer. Headquartered in Bothell, Sonus works to develop drugs to treat cancer. Fuhrman has 20 years of executive management experience with life sciences and high technology companies. He was president of manufacturing services company Integrex.

Bastyr University

Bastyr University President Thomas C. Shepherd will resign to work in the private sector. Shepherd led the university for four years and worked on the 20-year campus master plan. He will help the board of trustees set up a transition plan. Shepherd has more than two decades of management experience in hospital administration. Bastyr University, based in Kenmore, specializes in natural health sciences.

Outdoors NW

The Seattle outdoors monthly magazine Sports Etc has changed its name to Outdoors NW. The magazine has redesigned its graphics and plans to expand into the Portland metro area. A new office there will be staffed by sportswriters Becky Brun and Keith Liggett. Topics the magazine covers include rock climbing, sea kayaking and hiking.

Washington Mutual

Seattle-based Washington Mutual named Alan Magleby senior vice president of investor relations. Magleby was in the same role at JP Morgan Chase & Co. He will be based in New York as a contact for the investment community and to coordinate investor events. Washington Mutual has 2,400 banking, mortgage lending and financial service offices around the country.
