The Association of Metropolitan Water Agencies has given an award to Seattle Public Utilities for its management. The association's president David Rager said SPU uses best management practices to provide safe water and low-cost service by using cross-training and technologically advanced information systems. SPU supplies water to more than 1.3 million people in the Seattle metropolitan area.
Bellevue-headquartered 180solutions appointed Ken McGraw executive vice president of general counsel and York Baur executive vice president of business development. The company is headquartered in Bellevue and provides online search marketing services.
McGraw's group will work with state and federal lawmakers to support online privacy legislation. Baur will develop strategic partnerships with content and technology providers.
Sound Meat Distributors has joined Associated Grocers, a Seattle-based wholesaler that provides food and other retail services to stores in Washington, Oregon, Alaska, Hawaii, Guam and the Pacific Rim. Sound Meat owner Tom Kuntz will work with AG during the transition and Kori Mulvaney of Sound Meat will be AG's category manager for food service and hotel/restaurant accounts.

Food industry marketing executive Scott Bixby is senior vice president and chief merchandising officer at Food Services of America. Based at the company's Seattle headquarters, he will work on marketing and merchandising programs through distribution centers in western and mid-western states. Bixby directed some sales at Campbell Soup Co. and managed product sales through Costco for Procter & Gamble. Food Services' customers are in the education, health care, government and hospitality industry.
Williams, Kastner & Gibbs added six new associates. Christopher Dahl focuses on business transactions and commercial litigation. Jennifer Gannon practices commercial litigation, health care law and real estate law. Todd Sorensen works on real estate litigation, and labor and employment law. Robby Tonkin concentrates on financial services and land use litigation. Michael White and Lisa Williams do commercial litigation. Williams, Kastner & Gibbs has 90 lawyers in Seattle, Tacoma and Portland.
Steelscape appointed Alfonso Gonzalez as chief financial officer. Gonzalez is an industrial engineer and has worked on strategic alliances, mergers and acquisitions and investments. Steelscape makes metallic coated and painted steel at facilities in Kalama, and Richmond and Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.
Caprice Hollins will fill a new role for Seattle Public Schools as director of equity and race relations. Hollins will coordinate programs to develop cultural awareness. Hollins is a psychologist and has 15 years of experience with ethnically and socioeconomically diverse groups. She was an independent contractor for the African American Academy.
