Garvey Schubert Barer

Greater Spokane

Greater Spokane was awarded a Community Service Award by the Association of Washington Business. The organization received the award for its workforce and education initiatives through its Career Awareness Campaign and Robotics Programs. The campaign is meant to spark the interest of youth to become aware of career opportunities that await them.

Davis Wright Tremaine

Monica Gianni returned to the Seattle office of law firm Davis Wright Tremaine as a partner in the Tax Practice Group. Gianni worked with the company from 1995 to 1999, but spent the last eight years heading her own firm called The Gianni Law Firm. Davis Wright has 480 attorneys internationally

City of Kenmore

The city of Kenmore hired Nancy K. Ousley as assistant city manager. Ousley has 20 years of government experience and spent the past five years as an assistant director with the Washington State Department of Community, Trade and Economic Development.

Cairncross & Hempelmann

Seattle law firm Cairncross & Hempelmann hired two new associates: Jeremie Lipton and Matt Lincecum. Lipton spent four years as an attorney for the U.S. Air Force and two years in private practice. Lincecum provides legal services exclusively to the wine, beer, restaurant and hospitality industries with a focus on federal and state licensing issues, business practices, marketing and distribution.

Potlatch

Spokane-based Potlatch Corp. hired Eric J. Cremers as vice president, finance and chief financial officer. Cremers will replace Gerald L. Zuehlke as CFO, who will retire at the end of the year. Cremers was senior vice president of corporate strategy and business development for the Albertsons grocery chains. Potlatch is a REIT with approximately 1.5 million acres of forestland in Arkansas, Idaho, Minnesota and Wisconsin.

Lane Powell

Alexandra Smith has joined Lane Powell's Olympia office as counsel to the firm in the Environmental Practice Group. She was an assistant attorney general, where she was a designated appellate specialist and represented the Department of Ecology and the Department of Natural Resources.

Association of Washington Business

The Association of Washington Business presented the 2007 C. David Gordon Award to Dr. ChangMook Sohn. Sohn has been executive director of the Washington State Economic and Revenue Forecast Council since the council's founding in 1984. The Gordon Award is the AWB's highest award for outstanding civic achievement.

Foster Pepper

The Seattle office of Foster Pepper hired Jeannie S. Simpson as an associate in its Real Estate Practice Group. Simpson was with Morrison & Foerster in their Palo Alto, Calif., and Tokyo offices. Foster Pepper has offices in Seattle, Spokane and Portland.

Ivar's

Einar Larson stirred his last pot of chowder at Ivar's Soup and Chowder Plant after working with the company since 1962. He is the second longest-tenured employee in Ivar's history. He was head chef at the former Ivar's Captain Table restaurant, had the same post at Ivar's Acres of Clams and has been in charge of research and development at Ivar's Seafood and Sauce Co. Ivar's established the annual Einar Larson Award in his honor and presented him with a trip for two to his home country of Norway.

Associated Underwater Services

Associated Underwater Services has moved its Seattle branch to a new location in Kenmore at 6706 NE 175th St., Unit D. The new space is larger and has better access for providing underwater services at Brightwater East, Todd Shipyards, Drayton Harbor and Lopez Island.
