Stewart Landefeld, partner at law firm Perkins Coie and chair of its national business practice, has temporarily resigned from the firm to fill the position of interim chief legal officer for his client Washington Mutual. He replaces Fay Chapman, the bank's long term general counsel, who is retiring. Landefeld is not a candidate for the position as successor and expects to return to Perkins Coie. Roy Tucker, business partner in the Portland office of Perkins Coie, will be interim chair of the business practice in Landefeld's absence.
The Municipal League of King County elected Bradley Meacham as chair. Meacham works for Microsoft. Other elected officers for 2008 include Robert Klein as vice chair, Norma Jean Hanson as secretary and Kristin Peterson as treasurer. The league is a volunteer organization that works to improve the quality of public decisions and public officials.
Clark Nuber, a CPA firm in Bellevue, promoted Dave Fleck, Sara Elizabeth Hyre, Joyce Lee and Pete Miller to principal.

Kibble & Prentice, an insurance and financial services company, hired Lisa Mushel as sales executive in the Employee Benefits Division.
Washington State Attorney General Rob McKenna selected Melanie de Leon to head the state Executive Ethics Board. She worked in different divisions of the Attorney General's Office, most recently as staff attorney with the state Department of Health. She replaces Susan Harris who is retiring after working for the state since 1975.
John P. Ahlers, founding member of Seattle law firm Ahlers & Cressman, was appointed by Gov. Chris Gregoire to serve on the Capital Projects Advisory Review Board as the private industry representative. Ahlers will serve on the board until June of 2011. The board reviews alternative public works contracting procedures and provides guidance to state policy makers on those contracting methods.

Virginia Mason Medical Center hired Molly Linhardt and Dennis Rochier as physicians. Linhardt works in the Department of Pediatrics at Virginia Mason Winslow. Rochier works in general internal medicine at Virginia Mason Federal Way.
The Office of the Attorney General promoted Marvin Skeen from investigator to chief criminal investigator. Skeen was a police officer with the Bellevue Police Department from 1969 until 1994, when he began working in the Attorney General's Office's Homicide Investigation Tracking System Unit. Skeen is a nationally recognized expert on homicide investigations and missing children homicides.
Everett-based Intermec Technologies hired David Yung as vice president and general manager, Asia Pacific region. Yung has 20 years of management experience in the region and worked with RS Components LTD. Intermec develops, manufactures and integrates chain asset technologies.
Puget Sound Blood Center promoted Jorge Duran to be director of its Northwest Tissue Services and hired Michael Young as director of the communications department. Duran joined Northwest Tissue Services in April 2006. Young is a former broadcast journalist and has worked with Microsoft, Verizon and Citigroup. Puget Sound Blood Center is an independent, community-based blood center.
