Lane Powell Attorney Laura Marquez-Garrett was named president of the board of directors of The Parkinson's Project. The nonprofit is committed to changing how Parkinson's care is provided. Marquez-Garrett has been volunteering as a member of the board since early 2011.
Weber Shandwick's Seattle office hired Rose Berg as senior vice president to lead its new local Healthcare Practice, and Nate Cole-Daum as account supervisor. Berg has 25 years of experience in advocacy and public education, brand marketing and coalition building. She recently managed her own communications firm. Cole-Daum has worked on Seattle Children's, Community Health Network of Washington and Partnership to Fight Chronic Disease.
Gov. Chris Gregoire appointed Stoel Rives Partner Melanie Curtice to the first governing board of the Washington Health Benefits Exchange. Curtice and seven others were selected from 20 nominees put forward by the state legislative caucuses. The board will oversee the new health insurance exchange that will be available to individuals and small businesses beginning in January of 2014. Curtice has experience counseling companies and organizations on employee benefits.

Seattle's Convention and Visitors Bureau hired Anne Santistevan as national account director. Santistevan manages SCVB's legal, government, cultural, social welfare, public affairs, religious and labor unions markets. She has 32 years of hospitality industry experience, the last 25 with Hilton Worldwide.
The Anchorage Convention & Visitors Bureau changed its name to Visit Anchorage. The organization was created in 1975 by the municipality of Anchorage. It says in a press release the new name will make it easier to find Anchorage visitor information and will reduce confusion about its purpose.
Members of the American Public Works Association, Washington State Chapter, elected new board members to its Executive Committee. Each will serve a two-year term. They are Debbie Sullivan, director of technical services, city of Olympia; Scott Egger, public works director, city of Lacey; Keith Martin, WSDOT eastern region local programs engineer; and Lauren Behm, senior marketing coordinator, HDR Engineering. Mike Clark, transportation group manager for David Evans and Associates, was elected treasurer. APWA is a national organization representing all facets of the public works profession.

Seattle-based Columbia Hospitality hired John Christison as vice president. Christison was president and CEO of the Washington State Convention & Trade Center, from which he retired in October after 21 years with the organization. He was also the principal and managing member of Buckley-Christison, a consulting company.


Affiliated Associations of America, a national association headquartered in Kirkland, hired Shelly Thomas as human resource manager and Rachael Ruble as marketing communications manager. Thomas worked at a Snohomish County bank for 26 years. Ruble has a background in television news with 10 years experience as a news anchor and reporter.
The Federal Home Loan Bank of Seattle hired Michael Wilson as president and chief executive officer. Wilson is executive vice president and chief business officer at the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines. He has 17 years experience.
