Grant Thornton LLP named Donald Corbett market territory managing partner for the Pacific Northwest, with offices in Seattle, Bellevue, Portland and Anchorage. He will oversee audit, tax and advisory services. He was the firm's West Region and California tax practice leader.
Richard Zack has been appointed interim associate dean of academic programs in the College of Agricultural, Human and Natural Resource Sciences at Washington State University. His research has resulted in the identification of new insect species, including seven named for him.
Governor Jay Inslee named Fife Deputy Mayor Pat Hulcey to a second four-year term on the Freight Mobility Strategic Investment Board. The board proposes policies, projects, corridors and funding to the Legislature.

Sound Transit CEO Peter Rogoff said Rhonda Marie Carter has been named chief of staff. Carter is currently deputy chief of staff at the U.S. Department of Transportation, and served as White House liaison for the Department of Energy and special assistant to the White House counsel. She also worked for the University of Washington. Carter will start in mid-August.
Green River College said Scott Morgan is interim president, at a pro-rated salary of $200,000 annually. Morgan has been a part of the Washington State Board for Community and Technical Colleges system for nearly 30 years and retired as president of Spokane Community College.
Seattle Times named a new leadership team. Michele Matassa Flores is managing editor. Matassa Flores has worked in or supervised nearly every news department during her 23 years at The Times. Lynn Jacobson is deputy managing editor, and has worked at The Times off and on for 23 years.

King County Executive Dow Constantine said Alex Fryer will become communications director Aug. 1. He has experience in both public and private sector communications as vice president at The Fearey Group, press secretary to former Seattle Mayor Greg Nickels, and as a journalist at the Seattle Times and Puget Sound Business Journal.
Perkins Coie said Andy Culbert, a partner in the Seattle intellectual property practice, won the 2016 Federal Circuit Bar Association President's Award.
