Law firm Carney Badley Spellman re-elected Robert Weber as a director-at-large on its board. Weber's practice focuses on real estate, banking and corporate transactions. City of Sammamish

Marlene Dunham retired after working over 20 years for the city of Sammamish. Dunham has the distinction of being the city's first employee. She was contract administrator in her final role.

Zipwhip

Seattle tech company Zipwhip and The Riveter, a union of working women and allies, formed a joint scholarship program that supports young women in science, technology, engineering and math. The Women in STEM Scholarship will give $1,500 to one female student studying in a STEM field, as well as a six-month Riveter Ally membership that includes access to all workshops and programs sponsored by The Riveter and other public programs. It also provides an allotment of floating desk co-working hours. The winner will be announced June 1. Zipwhip is a cloud software company for business texting.

Avangrid Renewables

Portland-based Avangrid Renewables commissioned the 307-megawatt Karankawa wind farm near Corpus Christi, Texas. The farm supplies clean electricity to Austin Energy and Nike, helping both meet their sustainability commitments. Austin Energy has committed to meet 65% of its customers' energy demand with renewable resources by 2027; Nike has committed to power all of its owned or operated facilities with renewable energy by 2025.

Lithia Motors

Medford, Oregon-based Lithia Motors says 28 of its car stores won 2020 Dealer of the Year awards from DealerRater. Lithia also had 45 stores win the 2020 DealerRater Consumer Satisfaction Award.

Seattle-based Summit Law Group added four lawyers: Seth J. Berntsen and Hathaway Burden in the litigation and labor/employment law practices; and Diana Siri Breaux and David H. Smith in the litigation practice. Berntsen represents employers in wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage and hour issues, non-competition and other employment matters. Burden specializes in commercial and employment litigation; and clerked for Justice Mary Yu of the Washington State Supreme Court. Breaux focuses on commercial agreements and intellectual property, including license and contract disputes, business torts, anti-counterfeiting and anti-piracy actions, patent and trademark litigation, and securities litigation. Smith practices in complex civil litigation and criminal defense, with a focus on health care and environmental/workplace safety.

Grown Rogue

Medford, Oregon-based cannabis company Grown Rogue International promoted Rob Rigg to chief marketing officer and Adam August to CFO of its U.S.-based operating subsidiary. Rigg worked at Nike and Goldman Sachs before joining Grown Rogue as vice president of marketing. August was vice president of finance at Harry & David prior to joining Grown Rogue in late 2018.

Vesta

Lake Oswego, Oregon-based Vesta hired Shabab Muhaddes as Asia Pacific general manager and head of its new Singapore office. Muhaddes was Visa's head of digital partnerships and ventures for the Asia-Pacific region. Prior to that, he spent eight years with Mastercard building strategic alliances to drive growth in emerging markets. Vesta provides e-commerce payment and fraud detection services.

King County

Colleen Echohawk won the District 4 Martin Luther King Jr. Medal of Distinguished Service from King County. Echohawk is executive director of Chief Seattle Club and founder of the Coalition to End Urban Native Homelessness. The annual award recognizes individuals whose work helps others.

Data I/O

Redmond-based Data I/O inked a distribution agreement with NOA Leading Co. to sell Data I/O products in Japan. NOA is a supplier of programming services in Japan. Data I/O makes programming and automated device handling systems for integrated circuits.
