Terry Fahey and Chris Hilder have formed 1st Medical Office Support to provide full-practice management and electronic medical billing and practice management services to local area physicians and health care providers. Fahey and Hilder work as certified reimbursement professionals and senior partners in the company. Services range from filing claims electronically to full practice management involving the posting of payments, filing claims with secondary & tertiary insurance,and billing patients for remaining balances. The Seattle-based law firm, VanValkenberg Furber Law Group has combined with Holland & Knight. The move makes Holland & Knight the largest U.S. law firm to have an office in Seattle. Van Valkenberg Furber clients will have access to Holland's full resources of 1,250 lawyers located in 26 offices throughout the United States. Van Valkenberg Furber was founded in Seattle in 1995 by securities lawyers William E. Van Valkenberg and Bradley B. Furber.
The Bellevue based mirror, fine art and custom framing business, Dimensions Design Center has been purchased by Duane Dahl, former chief executive officer of Kiss.com and Udate.com. Dahl has members of the former Kiss.com development team developing Web-based tools and products to allow Dimensions to be more productive and efficient while completing projects. Dimensions has locations in Bellevue and Lynnwood with corporate offices in Bothell.
Allison L. Watson will replace Rosa Garcia as vice president of Microsoft's Worldwide Partner Sales and Marketing Group. Watson was previously chief of staff for Kevin Johnson, senior vice president of Microsoft Americas. Watson is working with Garcia to transition leadership. She will assume leadership full time beginning Aug. 1 when Garcia becomes general manager of Microsoft's subsidiary in Spain. Microsoft also promoted Mary Snapp to vice president of Law and Corporate Affairs, reporting to incoming general counsel Brad Smith. Snapp will continue to serve as Microsoft's deputy general counsel for product development and marketing. Before joining Microsoft, Snapp was in private practice at what is now Preston, Gates and Ellis. Snapp's new responsibilities will include the company's compliance under new antitrust consent decree.
Boeing Capital Corporation has opened a new office in Hong Kong. Foster Arata, who is the managing director - Asia of Boeing Capital, will head the office. Boeing Capital Corporation is a global, full-service provider of financial solutions, with a focus on assets critical to customers of the Boeing Company. Boeing Capital is headquartered in Renton.
Seattle Systems appointed Christopher Welch as its new director of sales. He joins the company from Johnson & Johnson where he was the executive director of sales and marketing. Seattle Systems has hired fifty employees since January 2002 and now has 215 employees working in both Poulsbo and Corona, Calif. Three Williams, Kastner & Gibbs attorneys have been named to community posts recently. Jon Solem has been promoted to major in the Army Reserves and Jodi Freudenberger has been appointed to the editorial board of Insurance Litigation Reporter. Solem and Freudenberger are associates in the Seattle office. Amy Forbis, a member in the Tacoma office, has been named to the board of directors of the Washington Healthcare Risk Management Society.
Mark Crisson, the current director of utilities for Tacoma Public Utilities, was named chair of the board of directors of the American Public Power Association. Crisson has been a member of the organization's board since 1995. The APPA, based in Washington D.C., is the service organization for more than 2,000 community-owned, not-for-profit electric utilities.
Bellevue's Esterline Technologies has acquired Janco Corp. of Burbank, Calif. Esterline, which has completed more than 15 acquisitions in the past five years, is a specialty manufacturer for aerospace/defense and electronics markets. Janco specializes in light-weight, space-saving switches for aircraft.
King County Superior Court Judge Deborah Fleck is the new president of the State Superior Court Judge's Association. She served as president-elect for the past year. Fleck has served on the Superior Court bench since 1992 and is currently chief judge at the King County Superior Court's Regional Justice Center.
