Banner Bank has hired Ken Hui as assistant vice president and branch manager for its Blue Mountain Mall branch in Walla Walla. Before joining Banner, Hui was president and managing partner of Hui Investment Co., where he managed an office and retail plaza. He also served as partner and general manager of the Modern Restaurant and was an assistant manager of a branch of SeaFirst National Bank.
Columbia Hospitality recently promoted Victoria Schmidt to marketing coordinator. Previously she was the concierge manager for Bell Harbor International Conference Center. The company also named Alecha Washburn guest services manager at World Trade Center Seattle and Kate Heinks as a reservation coordinator at the Inn at Langley. Washburn was previously an account executive with Davidson & Associates in Des Moines and Heinks was previously a sales associate for Lind's Jewelry.
The National Hydropower Association recognized Seattle City Light for its role as a river steward with an Outstanding Stewardship of America's Rivers award. City Light was honored for its work on the Skagit River, which runs 162 miles to Puget Sound in Washington State. The utility, which operates three hydroelectric plants on the river, was recognized for its work with agencies, tribes and conservation groups to protect salmon runs and preserve wildlife habitat on the river. Also honored as river stewards were Avista Corp., Duke Energy, Pacific Gas & Electric and Tacoma Power.
Alan Gallay, a professor at Western Washington University professor has won the Bancroft Prize for his book on the history of slave trade among Native Americans in the South. Gallay has taught at Western since 1988. The Bancroft includes a grant of $4,000 and has been presented by the trustees of Columbia University since 1948 to authors of American history books of exceptional merit and distinction.
The Pacific Northwest chapter of the Anti-Defamation League named Tomio Moriguchi, chairman and CEO of Uwajimaya, as its 2003 Torch of Liberty Award winner. The award is presented annually to an outstanding corporate, civic or educational leader who exemplifies exceptional community service and is committed to safeguarding civil rights for all citizens. Founded in 1913, the Anti-Defamation League is celebrating its 60th year.

Sandra Hurtley was named sales manager at the Mayflower Park Hotel. Hurtley was most recently the manager of group sales for Whistler-Blackcomb.
Berryman & Henigar named Maridee Hopkins marketing coordinator. Hopkins, a seven-year marketing veteran of the A/E/C industry, will support all marketing and business development activities in the firm's Seattle office.
Seattle's Kincaid's Fish, Chop & Steakhouse was named as an award winner in the category of fine dining chain wine list by The Monterey Wine Festival's "America's Best Wine Lists Awards Competition." The awards rate restaurant and private club's selection breadth, price of fare, clear information for customers, quality, style and affinity with the restaurant cuisine concept.
