The trustees of Tacoma's Bates Technical College named Lyle Quasim to serve as chair and Theresa Pan to serve as vice-chair of its board. Quasim was appointed as a trustee in March 2001. He currently serves as chief of staff in the Pierce County Executive's office. Pan, appointed in March 2002, is the owner of Star Tours in Tacoma, president of Associate Travel in Seattle, and president of Star Machine Tools. Bates is a public, accredited state college, and the largest technical college in Washington State.
Pacific Fishermen has elected new board officers: Arne Einmo, president; Nancy Ferkingstad, vice president; Gladys Logan, secretary/treasurer; and Doug Dixon, the company's general manager as assistant secretary. The professional ship and yacht repair business, located near the locks on the Lake Washington Ship Canal, recently released positive first quarter financial results after its 2002 year-end results that showed a profit for the first time in four years.
Prestige Resorts & Destinations named Connie Schuerer regional sales director for its recently opened Pacific Northwest sales office in Seattle. Schuerer was previously regional sales manager for the Salish Lodge & Spa in Snoqualmie. Prestige Resorts & Destinations is based in Wayzata, Minn.
Wells Fargo promoted Paul Dini to business banking manager. Dini will be based in Bellevue managing a team of five business bankers and three sales associates. Dini joined Wells Fargo in Washington as a senior business banker in 2002, previously working for nine years for Wells Fargo Business Banking in Wisconsin.
Lee Andrews has joined Tatum Partners, a national firm of chief financial officers, as a partner in its Seattle office. Lee has 30 years of diversified financial management and business experience including positions with Coopers & Lybrand in their London, Johannesburg, and Manhattan offices. Tatum Partners has over 350 partners located in 30 offices across the country, including Seattle and Portland.
Seattle law firm Stafford Frey Cooper has relocated its offices to 3100 Two Union Square. The firm's telephone and fax numbers will remain the same.

Patrick James has been appointed CEO of Longview Aluminum to oversee operations of its smelter in Longview. James was an associate and consultant with Thames Capital Corp. Ltd., and previously served as president and CEO of Rio Algom Ltd. of Toronto. Longview Aluminum was purchased from Alcoa in February of 2001 by Michigan Avenue Partners of Chicago. The plant has been idle since that time and is currently negotiating a reorganization plan in bankruptcy court in Chicago. If the plan is approved by the bankruptcy court, the company expects to be operational again in November.

Bellevue's Esterline Technologies recently acquired United Kingdom-based Weston Aerospace and has announced plans to open a sales and engineering facility in Toulouse, France. The company also entered into an agreement to sell assets of its discontinued Excellon Automation subsidiary based in Torrance, Calif. Esterline Technologies is a specialized manufacturing company serving the aerospace and defense markets.
