Bothell's Nastech Pharmaceutical promoted Jade R. Brown to vice president of marketing and business development. Brown was previously senior director of marketing and business development. Nastech, a developer of nasal drug delivery, also develops products targeted for the treatment of male and female sexual dysfunction, pain management, osteoporosis, cancer and hepatic illnesses, growth deficiency and multiple sclerosis.
Anthony’s Restaurants has been honored with a Restaurant Neighbor Award from the National Restaurant Association. The award honors restaurants involved in community service. Anthony’s has sponsored the Anthony’s Oyster Olympics for the past 14 years to raise public awareness of the importance of clean water for the Puget Soundkeeper Alliance, and is associated with the Moyer Foundation, a nonprofit organization founded by Seattle Mariners pitcher Jamie Moyer and his wife, Karen.
The Channel 9 Store will open a seasonal retail location at Seattle's Pacific Place from Oct. 1 through mid-January. The store is operated by Channel 9 Corp., a wholly owned subsidiary of KCTS. The store plans an expanded selection of toys, games and gifts this season. Tom Niemi is the director of retail operations for Channel 9 Stores.
Dale Terwedo, president of Edmond's Terwedo Financial Services, joined Angel Flight West, an organization that arranges free air transportation for people with non-emergency needs. Terwedo was named an active command pilot for the Washington Wing of Angel Flight West. Angel Flight missions come from hospital social workers, physicians' offices and social service agencies. Currently, the Washington Wing consists of 207 pilots.

The Northwest Washington Women's Business Center at Community Capital Development is launching a new Web site on Sept. 24 at www.seattleccd.com/resources/locator/index.html. The site will allow small businesses to find free and reduced cost services in Snohomish, Skagit and Whatcom counties. The service is funded in part by grants from Verizon, Key Bank, Washington Mutual, Columbia Bank and Northwest International Bank.

Omega Group named Linda Hines, Kelli Odom and Michael Goss senior project consultants. Hines is a former Moss Adams/EnTech team member, Odom has six years of experience in business solutions consulting and Goss previously ran his own consulting business, Goss Consulting. Hines and Odom will be based in Seattle; Goss will be based in Portland. Omega Group is headquartered in Portland, with offices in Seattle.
City University appointed Elizabeth Fountain dean of its school of human services and applied behavioral science. Fountain has been interim dean for 10 months. She received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Seattle University and is currently working on her doctorate in higher education leadership at Capella University. She is a former member and co-chair of the Seattle Women’s Commission, a volunteer citizens board that advises city government on issues affecting women’s rights.
Seattle Metropolitan Credit Union and Teamsters' Credit Union have merged. The Teamster's Credit Union location on Denny Way will become the sixth office for Seattle Metropolitan, which has offices at Northgate, Southcenter, Rose Hill and Lynnwood. A seventh branch will open this fall in Seattle. The credit union serves the employees of the city of Seattle and 200 locally based businesses, including Eddie Bauer and Northwest Hospital. Anyone who lives or works in King, Snohomish or Pierce counties is eligible to join SMCU.
Judy Z. Smith, publisher of The Omak-Okanogan County Chronicle, was named president of the Washington Newspaper Publishers Association. Smith has been publisher of the Chronicle since 1996. The association also named Kris Passey, publisher of the Marysville Globe and the Arlington Times, first vice president; Gregg McConnell, publisher of the Burlington Argus and the Courier-Times in Sedro-Woolley, second vice president; and Scott Hunter, publisher of the Grand Coulee Star, past president and WNPA executive director. Washington State Patrol Chief Ronal Serpas was presented with the Freedom's Light Award for his efforts to foster openness in the patrol.
Elizabeth Swanson joined the University of Washington, Bothell as director of development. Previously Swanson was director of development at the Children's Museum in Seattle. She has held development positions at the University of Kansas, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Ohio State University.
Anne Alberg of Kirkland has been named to the 11-member Women's Advisory Council of the National Association for the Self-Employed. The council monitors issues that are of chief concern to women-owned, micro-businesses, from finding capital and securing contracts to networking and training. Alberg is a professional public speaker and specializes in creating business referrals for clients.
