John D. Werderman joins Avista Labs in Spokane as president and CEO. Mike Davis, former president and CEO, will be chief technology officer. Avista Labs, soon to be ReliOn, provides of fuel cells for backup power. Werderman brings 25 years' experience in senior management and most recently worked as corporate vice president of Maxwell Technologies, focusing on systems for the telecommunications industry.
The Washington Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates elected Williams, Kastner & Gibbs lawyer Tim Blue secretary. ABOTA is a national organization of 5,000 defense and plaintiff trial lawyers. Blue specializes in defense of product liability and malpractice cases. Williams, Kastner & Gibbs has more than 90 lawyers in Seattle, Tacoma and Portland practices.
BluWater Bistro just opened its third restaurant, in Leschi at 102 Lakeside Ave. BluWater Bistro-Leschi, formerly the Leschi Lake Cafe, has views of Lake Washington and Mount Rainier. A $350,000 renovation of the 5,200-square-foot space included mahogany booths, panels and columns and exterior work. Dan Anderson and Bart Evans are owners and general managers of the Seattle-based chain.
Boeing Capital Corp. announced changes in the leadership of its finance-related functions. Steve Vogeding, has been named vice president. Russ Evans replaces Vogeding as chief finance officer. John Rosenthal, currently Boeing Capital's treasurer, will become director of risk management. Geoff Carpenter, currently assistant treasurer -- global treasury operations for The Boeing Co., will replace Rosenthal as Boeing Capital's treasurer.

Gene Juarez Salons & Spas is planning to open a salon in Puyallup in June. The 2,500-square-foot salon in South Hill Mall will specialize in cuts, hair coloring and conditioning treatments. Other locations are in Lynnwood, Bellevue, Seattle, Redmond and Tacoma.
Sandusky Radio named Lois Mares sales manager of KIXI-AM 880 and KLSY 92.5 FM in Bellevue. Mares spent 18 years with Infinity Radio. Sandusky is based in New York and owns five radio properties in Seattle and five in Phoenix.
Charter Bank opens a Seattle office this month in the Puget Sound Plaza Building at 1325 Fourth Ave., Suite 1700. Other offices are in Bellevue, Redmond and Kent. Senior Vice President Liz Marx will lead three others as branch manager. Nancy Maxwell, a personal banker and office manager joined this month and Charter will hire a relationship manager and relationship associate.
