New Edge Networks appointed Ray Solnik chief development officer in Vancouver. Solnik will work on mergers and acquisitions as a telecom business development and strategic marketing executive. New Edge provides secure data networks and Internet access for businesses and communications carriers.
Governor Gary Locke appointed Carol K. Nelson to the Public Facilities District board of directors. Washington state authorized King County to create the board to build the Seattle Mariners ballpark. Nelson is also president and CEO of Cascade Financial Corp.
The Seahawks have hired Martha Fuller, 41, as the franchise's chief financial officer. She has been director of planning and economic development for the city of St. Paul, Minn., for the past two years.
Computer Forensics appointed Allison Griffin computer discovery specialist. Seattle-headquartered Computer Forensics provides helps law firms uncover evidence in e-mails, desktop and laptop computers, network servers and backup tapes. Griffin was a senior litigation paralegal and case manager with Seattle law firm Graham & Dunn.
Gov. Gary Locke named Michael McVicker as the state's interim chief information officer and interim director of the Department of Information Services. He will earn an annual salary of $112,000. McVicker worked on strategic planning of a statewide telecommunication network. He replaces Stuart McKee who will join Microsoft as a national technology officer.
Wine Yakima Valley, an association of Yakima wineries and wine grape growers, launched a new Web site. The portal site, www.wineyakimavalley.org, is aimed at travelers and wine writers.

Portland-based United States Bakery named Marc Albers president. Albers will oversee operations, sales and marketing. Former president Bob Albers will remain CEO and chairman of the board. Barry Ware will be vice president of operations and Todd Cornwell will be vice president of sales. Ken Waltos was promoted to vice president of purchasing. The bakery serves grocery, restaurant and food service customers in Oregon and parts of California, Idaho, Montana and Alaska.
Newton Security, a supplier of detection systems, has expanded its manufacturing and corporate headquarters in Renton. Newton is a privately held technology company.
The Seattle City Council's Government Affairs & Labor Committee appointed Seattle tax attorney Robert L. Mahon to the Seattle Ethics and Elections Commission. Wayne Barnett, a former staff attorney for the Massachusetts State Ethics Commission and a former Congressional candidate, will be commission director. Mahon is at Perkins Coie and was campaign treasurer for Heidi Wills and for Rep. Frank Chopp.
Columbia Bank promoted Diane Avery to vice president of its West Olympia branch. Avery has 30 years of banking experience as an internal auditor and compliance officer. Columbia is a wholly owned subsidiary of Columbia Banking System with 34 branches in Pierce, King, Cowlitz, Kitsap and Thurston counties.
