The Association of Washington Business hired Tom McBride as governmental affairs director. He will be in charge of tax and fiscal policy and be the association's point person on transportation and unemployment insurance. McBride was director of intergovernmental relations for the Washington State Department of Community, Trade and Economic Development. He also practiced law in Seattle. The association has more than 4,200 members.
Seattle Repertory Theater artistic director Sharon Ott announced she will leave her job in about a year. She said in a release that her work in the past year had been "entirely draining, both emotionally and physically." Her contract expires next June. The company's board of trustees is forming a committee to begin a national search for a successor.
Seattle-based HomeStreet Bank elected David A. Ederer to its board of directors. Ederer has more than 30 years of experience in financial services and is chairman of Ederer Investment Co. HomeStreet has 30 branches in the Northwest and Hawaii.
Seattle-based Dendreon Corp. announced Christopher S. Henney will retire as chairman of the board. Henney is a scientist who co-founded Icos and Immunex. Board member Richard B. Brewer will succeed Henney. Dendreon is developing therapies for cancer.
Keeney's Office Plus, a Seattle office products dealer, added Brian Keeley to its sales staff. Keeley joins from Olympic Reprographics and will work with federal, state and local government clients.
Natural and organic foods retailer Wild Oats Markets will open its second Vancouver store this fall and expects to employ 100 people. The nationwide chain has 104 stores in 24 states and British Columbia. It now has 11 stores in the Portland and Vancouver areas.
Dallas resident Marion Stampley, Jr. is Taco Del Mar's master developer for Texas, operating as MTS Enterprises, Inc. The first Texas Taco Del Mar will open in Dallas late this summer. Additional developer agreements have been signed in Oregon, Arizona, Montana, Wyoming and Idaho, California's San Francisco Bay Area and British Columbia.

Karen Sutherland received an award from the King County Bar Association. Her employment law experience is in discrimination, harassment and employment contract work and she trains people on legal issues affecting employers. She is assistant manager of Ogden Murphy Wallace, a Seattle law firm.
Andy McDonald was appointed chief credit officer for Columbia Bank. McDonald was with US Bank as senior vice president. Allisha McVay is new assistant vice president and manager of the downtown Gig Harbor branch. Columbia has 34 branches in Pierce, King, Cowlitz, Kitsap and Thurston counties and is wholly owned by Columbia Banking System.
Sherry Wood is chairman-elect to the board of directors of the National Association of Credit Management. Wood is director of credit for West Coast Paper in Seattle. Leslie A. Reedy is vice chairman of the western region. Reedy is a vice president for Coastal Clearing in Ocean Shores. The association is headquartered in Columbia, Md.
Seattle Goodwill will have a grand opening Thursday at its new store in Ballard at 6400 Eighth Ave. N.W. It has a 15,000-square-foot sales floor and a drop-off center for donated clothing, household items, books and toys. A new store in Renton will open July 17. Sales revenue funds Seattle Goodwill's education and job training programs for low-income people in northern Puget Sound.
Independent Colleges of Washington appointed four members to its board of directors. Paul Cantor is a vice president at Union Bank of California. Rick Gross is a vice president for airplane programs at The Boeing Co. Doug Schutt is senior vice president of Costco Wholesale. Steve Seward is a lawyer. The board is made up of independent college and university presidents and business leaders. The group promotes independent liberal arts higher education.
