Bullivant Houser Bailey, a West Coast law firm, has established an arts, entertainment and sports group, which will cover legal aspects in those areas. Attorneys are in all six of the firm's West Coast offices. Group co-chair's are Candice Jackson, associate in the Vancouver office, and Erica Krikorian of the Seattle office. Group members include Steve Fisher, Connie Sue Martin, Toni Anders, Erica Krikorian and Gail Manuguid in the Seattle office, and Kimball Ferris, Michael Ratoza and Renee Rothauge in the Portland office.
Bremerton-based Westsound Bank hired Lynn Currie and Brian McLellan as business development officers. Currie has 20 years experience in the banking industry, recently worked in real estate and will support the branch offices in Kitsap and Clallam counties. McLellan is a founding director of the bank and retired from that post to accept this position. He will work in the central Kitsap area.
Odgen Murphy Wallace, a law firm with offices in Seattle and Wenatchee, promoted Kevin Kutzera to director of information services and records. Kutzera has been with the firm for nine years as director of information services.

Spokane-based Potlatch Corp. said Linda K. Massman will be vice president of finance and chief financial officer for Clearwater Paper Corp., the proposed spin-off of Potlatch's pulp-based businesses. Clearwater will create two publicly traded entities: a timber REIT with 1.7 million acres of forestland and a pulp-based manufacturing company. Gordon Jones will be Clearwater Paper president and CEO.
El Gaucho Bellevue has hired staff members for the new restaurant that will open at City Center Plaza in November. They are John Broulette as executive chef, Steve Cain as chef de cuisine and David Scherling as general manager. Broulette has worked at El Gaucho since 2002 and began his culinary career in 1977. Cain spent 22 years in Seattle restaurants including Chandler's Crab House, Daniel's Broiler and the Waterfront Seafood Grill. Scherling has 22 years experience in the hospitality industry and worked at Elliott's Oyster House.
Destination Hotels & Resorts hired Cynay Smith as regional director of association sales for Skamania Lodge, a resort in the Columbia River Gorge, and Suncadia, a mountain resort near Roslyn. Smith was associate director of sales at Semiahmoo Resort in Blaine.

Banner Bank hired Steve Dolan to manage its Bellevue branch as vice president/branch manager. Dolan has 30 years of banking experience and was vice president/branch manager for Washington Mutual.
The Sorrento Hotel hired Jeff Jobe as general manager. Jobe has 21 years of experience working with independent hotel groups and worked at the Heathman Hotels in Portland and Kirkland.
Robert Bates, who retired in July as provost of Washington State University, has taken a new position with WSU on the Vancouver campus as director of research and graduate education. Bates was provost from 2002 to 2008.
Columbia Hospitality hired Riccardo Marossa as the first director of sales for the WaMu Leadership Center at Cedarbrook. Marossa was director of sales and marketing at the Roosevelt Hotel in downtown Seattle.
