Electricians get a jumpstart from the Net

    Before SmartElectrical came along, Burke Electric appeared to be running smoothly. But like most businesses, there's always room for improvement.

    SmartElectrical Chief Operating Officer Kurt Armbruster and CEO Carl Albrecht. The Seattle-based firm helps electrical contractors run their businesses more efficiently through an online marketplace linked to various distributors.

    In Burke's case, the improvement would be made with managing its purchasing process -- a common weak point in the electrical contracting industry.
