    Sewage backup led to mold growth in the basement of this home, which Mike Smith visited in response to an insurance claim.

    Indoor air quality expert Mike Smith has consulted on industrial hygiene for insurance companies, school districts and governments and was recently named a principal at Kirkland-based environmental consulting firm AMEC. The DJC asked him what contractors can do to help prevent mold from becoming a problem in buildings.
