Skanska USA's building construction business unit promoted Kevin McCain to vice president and account manager for its Seattle office. In his new role, McCain is responsible for building and maintaining client relationships, as well as recruiting and developing employees. He has more than 19 years of construction industry experience, spending the last 16 as part of Skanska's local management team. He holds a bachelor's degree in construction management from the University of Washington.
Len Wheeler joined Paul Davis Restoration as a project manager and estimator in its Lynnwood office. Wheeler is estimating and overseeing jobs in residential and commercial restoration and remodeling, along with reconstruction of property damage from water, fire, smoke, vandalism and mold. He has more than 20 years of experience in the construction and restoration services industries. He holds an associate's degree in drafting and architecture from High-Tech Institute in Phoenix.
Woodinville-based Mowat Construction Co. won the 2011 John D. Spellman Safety Award from the Evergreen Safety Council. The award recognizes ESC members who have demonstrated significant improvement or achievement in their safety programs.
The Kittitas County Utility Coordinating Council voted Morgan & Son Earthmoving as it 2011 Golden Shovel Award winner. The award recognizes contractors and excavators who are committed to reducing damage to underground facilities, which avoids interruption of service and protects workers and the public from danger. Morgan & Son was commended for its high level of professionalism, innovation and cooperation on an emergency project with many logistical challenges.

Mercer Island-based Bayley Construction hired Christopher Bull as estimator and project manager in its Special Projects Group and Scott Neuman as superintendent. Bull has more than 35 years' experience in construction, ranging from small tenant build outs to large retail stores. He holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Oregon. Neuman has more than 25 years' experience in construction, ranging from medical and airport projects to marine research facilities. He was a previous winner of the American Concrete Institute Excellence in Concrete award for the Roberts Hall project at the University of Washington.
The PCL family of companies received the 2012 Associated General Contractors of America Grand Award for Construction Safety Excellence. The award recognizes construction companies that excel at safety and health performance. Winners were judged on company management commitment, active employee participation, safety training, jobsite hazard identification and control, and safety program innovation. PCL's U.S. operations are based in Denver. It has local operations in Bellevue.
Lease Crutcher Lewis was one of 13 organizations nationwide to win the AGC in the Community Award from the charitable arm of the Associated General Contractors of America, AGC Charities. Lewis was cited for its charity work in 2011 and for teaching local kids about the benefits of science, technology, engineering and math education. The contractor raised more than $250,000 for the local community, most of which went to Washington STEM, a nonprofit that encourages innovative teaching in science, technology, engineering and math. Lewis employees launched a STEM club at a local high school and volunteered teaching a six-week course in applied construction.
