Boeing Commercial Airplane Group's new headquarters has been designed by Seattle-based LMN Architects to express the company's historical role in aerospace.

The signature 45-foot tall, 150-foot long curving glass wall of the new facility provides a dramatic entrance to the building's lobby. The wall is an allusion to flight, as a graceful, undulating shape that appears to be defined by the wind. Its stainless steel rod rigging recalls the wing struts and cables of Boeing's early biplanes.

The 300,000-square-foot facility features an open central stair linking all five floors and a shared, landscaped rooftop courtyard.

The 60-foot-high enclosed lobby and central stairway draws natural light into the facility and provides illumination for the courtyard at night.

The general contractor was Baugh Construction Co. Skilling Ward Magnusson Barkshire was the structural engineer for the project.
