TV offers lessons in telling your story

  • For all the dubious 'breaking news' and rapid-fire editing, TV news, talk shows and commercials show how to crisply deliver a message.

    You are relaxing after work, perhaps enjoying a snack, and settle down to watch television.

    With the TV control in your hand, you look for something to watch. Try the news. Nothing there of interest. Click over to sports, but your favorite team has just lost another game. Switch again, and it is a show about the lifestyle of the dung beetle. Click once more and you see maniacal adults, cheering and clapping after every sentence in a game show.
