Management by Design: Motivating a team to feel good, work hard

It is easy to fall into the trap of seeing people as “producers of work,” and forget that a willing worker is far more productive than someone who sees the job as a paycheck. I don't believe that everyone can be converted into a highly motivated team player, but most are ready to be inspired when you show you genuinely care about them, and not just the work they produce.
Yet, if you only care about the person, and not the work, you will get happy workers producing mediocre results.
