    HOUSTON -- It’s as true in Houston as it is anywhere: Where you live is who you are. And what you call the neighborhood can also tell a lot about you.

    If you live in Houston's Third Ward, you are most likely African American and probably poor. But African Americans in higher economic strata all around this city identify with the place. That’s because it was once a thriving community.
