Affordable housing projects attract some of the best architects in town. And why shouldn't they? Increasingly, affordable and low-income housing is part of a complex program with far-reaching goals -- historic preservation and neighborhood planning, for instance. And when the right sponsors come together, there is the irresistible opportunity to combine good design with production of homes for a growing population the market doesn’t serve.
But the game can be hazardous.
