  • Cuba has a stock of modernist landmakrs and masterpieces, as well as heavy-handed international style housing blocks and towering casinos.

    June is one of several melting months in Cuba, but this year the heat was matched by political animosity, stirred up by President Bush’s May speech in Miami, in which he voiced unwavering support of the 40-year-old U.S. trade embargo and demanded free elections.
