The Marlboro Man rides among the hills and prairies on the right side of our state, tending his grazing cattle. The cattle dot the ravines, drifting peacefully from green crevice to dry creek, under his steady gaze and dangling cigarette.
But behind the tough exterior, he's afraid. He's afraid that some scientist supported by his taxes has already declared his dry streambed to be precious salmon habitat. A swarm of bureaucrats might descend at any moment, with tape measures and thick binders, talking about endangered species.
