Seasonal greenery and lights are everywhere at Pike Place Market. Four “swinedeer” — replicas of Rachel the bronze pig — stand on top of the arcade just north of the market clock and sign.
Everyone is wearing coats, and it is not quite as crowded as on an August afternoon, but a lot of people still want to be here. Many are clearly out-of-towners, but it's easy to see that locals are making the rounds too, picking up something for dinner and browsing the flower stands. They may not come every day, but the market is part of their extended neighborhood.
