Andrew Bergh: When your CPA makes a mistake, who pays?

Nobody likes paying taxes to Uncle Sam.

So imagine Doug O'Bryan's chagrin after learning that he owed almost $290,000 in back taxes and interest thanks to an accounting error. Though he admittedly owed the taxes, the South Dakota entrepreneur later sued his accountant for malpractice to recover, among other things, the interest on the deficiency.
