WSDOT team goes after drivers who smash into highway bridges

  • During the last fiscal year, the team recovered $6.9 million to fix bridges, guardrails and other facilities such as rest areas.

    WSDOT recovered $975,000 last year for damages to the Naches River bridge near Yakima caused by a trucker in 2006.

    A driver reportedly fleeing from police on Saturday slammed her SUV into the northbound state Route 529 bridge over the Snohomish River between Everett and Marysville.
