Valdok 1702

Valdok 1702 is a 164-unit multifamily building at 1702 N.W. 56th St. in Seattle's Ballard neighborhood, with a design inspired by the neighborhood's Scandinavian roots.

It is the sister building of Valdok, which is located directly across Northwest 56th Street and was completed in fall 2018. The two buildings form a gasket shape with prominent corners and a courtyard-like effect mid-block.

Scandinavian heritage influenced the selection of "hygge" as a starting point for the interiors. Hygge is defined as a quality of coziness and comfort that brings about a feeling of contentment and well-being.

Residents have access to the amenities in both buildings, which have interiors designed to contrast each other. The new building uses charred woods, bold contrasts, and rich, dark fabrics.

Valdok 1702's top-floor space is oriented toward the south to take advantage of sunlight and views. The roof deck has several seating areas, a dog run, fire pit, and large outdoor cooking and barbecue space with raised plant beds for residents to use.
