Giant 'steel snake' lays water pipe

    Altering the microtunnel path for a pipeline below the Snoqualmie River allowed the pipe to be installed before a fish-related construction moratorium set in.

    In order to move more water from the Tolt River to the Lake Forest Park Reservoir, and eventually to Seattle homes, the city of Seattle had to lay 6 miles of new pipes that are nearly 7 feet in diameter and made of steel.
