Burkett, Burdett & Van Kampen

Jason C. Cruz has joined Burkett, Burdett & Van Kampen as an associate. Cruz will practice in the firm's litigation and intellectual property groups.

Foster Pepper & Shefelman

Foster Pepper & Shefelman has added Robert Kunold, Jr. as a member, and Kevin R. Wallace, Rodrick J. Dembowski and Jennifer L. Droz as associates in its Seattle office. Kunold previously worked as an associate with Foster Pepper; Wallace was an associate at Preston Gates & Ellis; Dembowski was a law clerk at the Washington State Attorney General, University of Washington Division, and held analyst positions with Paccar Financial and former County Executive Gary Locke; Droz was a member of the mainline tax staff for Arthur Andersen and a legal assistant for the Kent City Attorney's Office.

Seattle Goodwill

Seattle Goodwill promoted Anne Marie Davis to vice president of marketing and development. She previously was director of marketing and development. Goodwill also announced two new board members: Anne Jannetti, project director for Spieker Properties, and Heather Howard, an attorney for Boeing.

Washington State University

Kelvin Lynn, director of the Center for Materials Research at Washington State University, has been elected a fellow in the American Association for the Advancement of Science. The honor is given for significant contributions to the advancement of science by an election of peers. Lynn joined WSU in 1996 to direct the center for materials research, and holds the Boeing chair in advanced materials. Lynn is known for his positron annihilation research.

Sterling Savings Bank

The Sterling Savings Bank's founders award was presented to Nicalee Smith. The award is presented to an individual best exemplifying Sterling's ideals and commitment. Smith is a vice president in Sterling's Ellensburg office. Also honored with leadership awards were: Jim Shideler and Amy Curran, Bellevue office; Cindy Malarz, Winlock, Ore., office; and Sherry Snediker and Colleen Warner, Spokane office.

Parker, Smith & Feek

Marty Bask will head worker's compensation services as a vice president at Parker, Smith & Feek. His previous experience includes management positions at Eagle Insurance and Kemper Employers Group.

Craig Forehand became manager of John L. Scott Real Estate's Magnolia office. The 15-year veteran of residential real estate came from ReMax, where he was a sales associate. Previously, he worked as branch manager and part owner of Home Realty Services, which operated two offices and an escrow and mortgage company. Forehand's family has lived in Seattle for four generations.

Barney Becker is a new sales agent in John L. Scott's Lake Stevens office. Ken Doan, Daniel Sessoms and Jaydee Jepsen joined the firm's Lynnwood office as sales agents, while Joe Preciado joined the Lynnwood West office. Four new agents joined the Laurelhurst office: Laura Fellows, Brian Hauer, Rob Holmstrom and Kris Hoffmann.

NAIOP looks at capital markets

Panelists will discuss "Capital Direction: Where is the Money Flowing in 2002?" at the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties' next monthly breakfast, set for Wednesday, Nov. 21, at the Bellevue Club southeast of downtown Bellevue. Karl Smith of Russell Real Estate Services, Richard Hass of Kennedy Associates and Paul Capeloto of Moss Adams will speak as a panel of investment managers. The legalities of leasing

Prudential MacPherson's

Lorelei Windhorn became a residential sales associate in Prudential MacPherson's Auburn office. Tommy Chen and John Lisle joined the Renton office, also as sales associates. Irnia Zilanova became a sales associate in Shoreline, while Jennifer Lucier and Samantha MacIntosh joined the Woodinville office.

Civia Media Group

Anthony Bontrager joined Civia Media Group of Seattle as vice president for market development, in charge of expansion of Civia's national network of media terminals in office buildings, hotels, retail centers, airports and elsewhere. Bontrager came from Advanced Radio Telecom Corp., where he was vice president of real estate operations. Before that he worked in acquisitions for JM Consulting Group.

MAME awards

The Borgata Apartments by Ron Davis of SeaMark Properties became one of the Master Builders Association of King and Snohomish Counties' three Community of the Year winners by taking this year's Major Achievement in Marketing Award in the "multi-family urban" category. Lozier Homes won the "multi-family suburban" Community of the Year MAME for Huckleberry Circle at Issaquah Highlands. Port Blakely Communities, master developer of Issaquah Highlands, won the "single-family" Community of the Year MAME for Woodside. MAMEs recognize successful marketing, advertising, construction, landscape and design in home building.
